So, February 15th is the new line in the sand. 3 weeks from today.

Anybody really believe the Dems are going to agree to fund the wall / barrier? Or is that the day the bear finally comes out of the cave, declares the NE in order to build the wall, and slams the door on DACA, TPS, Catch & Release, etc.?

This is going to be interesting to watch.

The fact is the GOP has to work harder because of the media, yet people like Trump and Romney and their cronies keep bubbling to the top of the GOP spectrum, and the "press" doesn't even have to work to make them look bad. Most politicians can and do manage being and looking stupid all by themselves; the media simply shelter Dims. The GOP is going to have to find some intelligent forms of life ... in policy and especially in how they present themselves. Trump, his mouth, and his tweets are his worst enemy because the press will give him all the rope he needs when he's at his dumbest.

When Trump walked out of the infamous meeting, the media played it as a petulant little kid stomping out when he didn't get his way ... and he absolutely looks the part. Trump should have announced that the meeting was over and please escort pelosi and schumer out since they had nothing to add. Act like the damn adult in the room.

It was incredibly dumb of him to say he was willing to take the blame for a shutdown. He should simply have said he would not compromise further, that he'd allowed previous CRs and the Dims didn't follow through, and that he would not sign another if the Dims didn't compromise. That does the same thing except Trump would have set boundary conditions that the Dims could choose to meet or not ... the adult who sets the bounds. That was also the turning point ... the day Trump handed over legitimacy to the Dims. He chose to fight a winnable battle in a way in which he was certain to lose.
