Pregnant federal contractor: My bills are piling up and there won't be back pay to help meYou find me a contractor that is
"Eggs/Basket" comes to mind
Yes. Her paycheck doesn’t come from .gov she’s a civilian employee. Either she works for somebody who’s looking for a reason to not pay her during this or she’s one ****** business person if she’s a self contractor with a single gov contract.Actually, I was questioning more along the lines that a contractor only has a contract with the USG and can't pay their employees?
Regardless, if the company is operating that close to the line funding wise where they are going "paycheck to paycheck", it doesn't speak well to their capital management.

We have contractors here every where. Their checks come from their employer, the temp agency not us. This is the same arrangement .gov works fromApparently neither one of you guys has ever worked for a private company that hires contract "employees". The employees are paid based on hours worked, the "contacting" company is only a agency that screens and offers temp employees as long as the hiring company wants them, meaning they can fire them or not have them work whenever they want. The agency doesn't offer the pay, the hiring company does, in this case the government.

Now has her employer got her parked with no pay since he cannot bill .gov regular invoices? Sounds like it.
I absolutely know of engineering contractors that are “working from home” during this shutdown and not missing a pay check.
