The shut down thread

Clearly that's the most logical conclusion

Well seeing how it just came out El Chapo had payed off a Mexican President $100 million to let him do his thing, I can’t imagine a cooked congressman would be hard to influence either.

During Shutdown, Trump’s NY Golf Club Fired a Dozen Undocumented Workers, Report Says

The other former manager said the broader Trump Organization placed far more emphasis on finding cheap labor than it placed on rooting out undocumented workers. The former manager characterized the attitude at the club as “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

“It didn’t matter. They didn’t care [about immigration status],’ ” said the former manager, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preserve ties with current Trump executives. “It was, ‘Get the cheapest labor possible.’ ” The former manager said the assumption at the club was that immigration authorities were not likely to target golf clubs for mass raids.

Or his voting record reflects the actual situation that you refuse to acknowledge. You prefer the confirmation from a couple of friends over a guy whose district covers 40% of the state's border. You see what you want to see

Put my trust with a someone i know personally or a politician. Really?

He’s the f***ing president

And she’s a F’ing congressman and not one single group , agency , poll firm , or person knows how many illegals are in this country ... THATS THE BIG DAMN PROBLEM , everybody is guessing , estimating or assuming . That’s why we can’t get a handle on what the cost vs pay out actually is . Hell we don’t even know how many are just in the three largest states known for having them ( Cali , NY and Texas) if we can’t even figure out 3 states how the hell can you believe anybody that quotes any stat on them ?

I've been to western Texas, and it looked about like those pics, I guess my idea of the desert is more like CA/NV where I have only seen coyote and scorpions.

Also, I was thinking tree stand.

There are trees big enough for tree stands , mostly though think tripods .
That spotted or ( axis ) deer in the pic comes from a high fenced ranch ( I’m guessing ) they are all over Texas but not native and were brought in to hunt . FYI

Maybe citizenship would be a good question to ask on the upcoming census. :D

That hurts liberal feelings though.

We are two years into the Trump presidency and an infrastructure spending bill has still never even been discussed. That should have been item #1. This could have been done with bi-partisan support which would have barely even been needed, anyway, when the Republicans had control of the House of Representatives. So, why wasn't it? Because Trump has selfishly prioritized (to an obsessive extent) the issues of immigration and "the wall" which he had used during his campaign rallies to throw red meat to his core base of support. This 35 day shutdown accomplished absolutely nothing other than to demonstrate what horrible leadership skills and management abilities that Donald Trump possesses. Fighting petty political battles are more important to Trump than actually getting important things done. He only cares about taking victory laps in front of his base... and there isn't one to be had with infrastructure spending (since he didn't campaign on it), so he isn't interested in doing it.

Hold your breath for Peeelosi to produce one.

Infrastructure can be taken care of in user fees.

I thought Obama and the Dims took care of all that with the stimulus. If not, just what the hell did they spend all that money on?

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 only addressed infrastructure in relatively small portions. It allocated $46 billion for transportation projects, including $27 billion for highway and bridge construction and repair and $11.5 billion for mass transit and rail projects; $4.6 billion for the Army Corps of Engineers; $5 billion for public housing improvements and $6.4 billion for clean air and drinking water projects. All needed but also insufficient in addressing long term needs. Any legislation which makes an investment in infrastructure should be a slam dunk right now. Trump never even brings it up... everything is about the damn wall.

Solid Ted. His positions are clear, his heart true.

Let's take a moment to laugh at Ted .... The only thing that changed between December 22nd and January 25th, is that Trump agreed to sign a 3 week CR without a dime of border wall funding. So, in the end, whose shutdown was it (putting aside for a moment that it was Trump who took ownership of the shutdown on December 11th, in the Oval Office, while speaking directly to Chuck Schumer)? It is way too late to try and re-brand this as a Democratic shutdown... as well as complete and utter nonsense.

It’s not an emergency. Is it a concern? Sure. That’s all. It’s a bs thing for Trump supporters to latch on to. That’s all.
...and what is going to change between now and February 15th? The fact is that 6 Republican Senators (Alexander, Collins, Gardner, Isakson, Murkowski and Romney) voted for a bill without border wall funding while only 1 Democrat (Manchin) voted for a bill with border wall funding. Trump has already caved once, and therefore, has no leverage on this issue if he takes the route of another shutdown. If he is going to declare this so-called national emergency to force it through, he might as well do it now... he is not going to win this through any negotiation. My feeling is that his lawyers are privately telling him that he would likely lose the battle in court if he does go the route of declaring a national emergency. He needs to learn how to take a loss and move on. This is pure stubbornness.
