The shut down thread

Im also going to stop using "they(Democrats) voted for the wall in 2006 and 2013" as any arguement. When you look at the wall they put compared to what Trump wants to put it's apples to oranges.

Their wall wouldn't stop any human from crossing. It's why they agreed to it.

Easy to cross like where the 700lbs were seized.

Big bend has difficult terrain, sparsely populated and can be treacherous trying to cross this area even when the weather is most cooperative. Attempting crossings in this area during summer or winter seasons can be fatal.

The Democrats have quite a few things they could toss into any negotiation as a concession.

Not that they will.

CNN guests are boasting this morning about how they've won and can stand firm on their positions without further concessions.

They deserve to gloat a little, they work lock step with the left so why not? Pelosi,Schumer,MSNBC,CNN won this round no doubt about it, we will see over the next 3 weeks if they win the fight

Not necessarily. Several key Dems have previously supported more border fencing. So you're pinning your hopes on the public differentiating between fencing and a wall. People will question why support one and not the other, and the most obvious choice is Trump. It's party politics, and a large portion of the public is tired of the petty bickering between the parties, so who's to say how their opinion will swing?

In the end, fencing, a wall, I don't think any of it will have the effectiveness supporters think it will, but they're convinced it's the solution.

I'd be very happy with rolls of electrified razor wire piled real high. But a wall would be kinder to stray animals.

Fear monger much. Most drugs come through ports of entry.

How do you know? You can't know what you don't know, and that specifically includes drug mules coming across the border without ever being stopped and searched and ,therefore, excluded from the numbers. And, yes, without a doubt, a ship, a truck, or an airplane can easily carry more drugs than individual couriers walking across an unprotected border, but then ants are very effective at carrying off a sandwich a bit at a time. Ever read about the Ho Chi Minh trail, the guns hauled into the mountains overlooking a place called Dien Bien Phu, cannon on the heights above Ticonderoga, or the the movement of cannon from Ticonderoga to Boston? A lot can be accomplished with simple manpower and incentive. The other part is in the numbers; people get a lot more credit when they catch a ton or so of drugs than a single courier with a fifty pound pack of drug or perhaps a dune buggy ... guess where the manpower and the new reports are going to go every time ... and the three letter Feds do love themselves some headlines.

Ask any resident that lives within a close proximity to the southern border and they will tell you that you don't know what you're taking about.

Due to increased security measures and advances in technology, ports of entry are for amateurs and very risky.

Lol. Did you ask them how they know but nobody else does, not even the Border Patrol. Their reports state as much.

Yeah like 90 percent are seized at the Ports of Entry according to US Customs and Border Control statistics.

My occupation takes me to south and west Texas often and I've seen it before with BPA capturing and seizing the drug mules...out in the middle of nowhere. Also, i have several friends that live close to the border (property and hunting leases) that witness it first hand, almost every day. Considering their families have been in that region longer than i have been alive, I'll trust their word over yours.

How about this guys word?

Texas Republican Rep. Will Hurd calls Trump border crisis a 'myth'

Hurd, who represents a district he says includes 820 miles of the roughly 1,900-mile border with Mexico, has voted with House Democrats on legislation to reopen the government that does not include wall funding. He said a barrier only makes sense in places where there is "urban-to-urban contact" like there is between El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

Instead, he proposes increasing security at points of entry, where the bulk of illegal drugs come into the U.S., improved technology along the border to create a "smart fence" and a "Marshall Plan for Central America" to address the root problems that are leading so many migrants to make the dangerous journey north.

Have your friends go to DC and plead with congress because I'm not buying "but my momma said......"

I can't believe someone that leases hunting land on the border wants a wall unless they're hunting wabbits and like the steel slat idea.

Jackalopes are protected, just what exactly is going on down there on these "leased lands"?

I have a buddy who hunts on the border. His dad has been leasing a place for over 20 years. He says you have to be really careful going to and in the deer stands because the illegals will get in them to sleep and take sh*ts. They steal stuff and vandalize all of the equipment. He said every time single time they go, they see them just walking through the desert. The have Border controls number and call them from the stands. They watch them swoop in to gather them up..

So deer stand in the desert... Well anyway, sounds lovely.
