Sheet pilings driven into the ground will be very effective below grade. At surface level there will be a wall with CBP (stationary) officials at certain areas along with the multiple mobile units in place. This system has worked in other areas trying to effectively stop threats.

What you just described is a digital 100B+ project (that requires users watching them, maintenance of them, power outages, replacing bad cameras/sensors/switches/networking) with a huge annual budget compared to an analog dummy wall that costs 5B and is a one time cost.

BS. The BP don't randomly open pickles to look. They knew it was in there. The scanners they use are probably 20 years newer than what the public is told just like military technology.

Your "estimates" are way off. 5B for the beautiful wall you want is BS. You don't even have a clue of the networking and equipment costs much less an understanding of what is needed where to secure the border.

The pro wall people such as yourself have an objective. It's not to secure the borders to keep drugs or human trafficking out, it is to keep the people from actually stepping on American soil to seek asylum.

Why is it BS? I don't have a clue huh? I'm going to say my estimate was conservative.

And yes I want to keep drugs, human trafficking, bad apples, terrorists, and people breaking line to be kept out.

thats not how asylum works. its not a get out of jail free card.

you apply for asylum, 90% of the time we say yes, and you are accepted in. for some if there is actually a danger they are let in and guarded until the asylum plea is accepted.

you can apply for asylum at any of the embassies/consulates in Mexico, I think there are 9, 5 pretty close to the US border. At any Port of Entry, and a lot of federal building in the states, Heck there might even be an online/phone number too, but not sure about that part.

you don't apply for asylum after BP has already got you. they are flaunting the system.

the 5 billion Trump wants would only build a couple hundred miles of wall. no where near the 1500 of unsecured border that remains.

"seek" Please tell me you didn't understand the meaning. Embassies/ consulates in mexico are american soil. Most people coming across the border illegally seeking asylum don't care if they are caught.

That is the overall fear that once on american soil they can seek "apply" for asylum. That is the only reason the redhat segment want a wall.

The wall is a bad idea and you can find posts from me all the way back to 2016 saying that. But an even worse idea is granting asylum to people who broke the law by entering our country, there are numerous was for them to apply without crossing the border illegally.

I never said they had to be granted asylum and I never implied it was a get out of jail free card as louder implied. He also implied they can do it over the phone and I don't think that is the case.

The border is 2000 miles. 1300 miles already has some kind of wall, fence, speed bump depending on which party affiliation built it.

The 5B is for walls in 4 different locations that was recommended. The White House sent a recommendation to Senator Shelby detailing the 4 locations and priority. There's 3 to 400 miles that looks like a small miniature Grand Canyon that doesn't require a wall because it's impossible to cross.
