The shut down thread

I completely agree. There's nothing like a con game to keep someone looking one way when the real thing is happening elsewhere. I saw a video of a couple of guys shinnying up one of the steel plate fences - just a few seconds carrying a pack, a really bad design. They turned around when they realized a photographer was there recording everything on camera. Yes, it's an example of how a poorly designed fence doesn't work, but also an excellent example of how easily a half dozen guys could have had this load over the border in minutes.
Who knew cameras work.

Who knew cameras work.

They just didn't want their faces in the news. I don't think you'll find many of the media down there covering the story ... too much border and no patience. And it doesn't fit their agenda.

Now if you're talking cameras and guns (like drone assassins), then we could be in agreement. Detect 'em and plink 'em ... sorta like trench warfare.

I guess we should put a bunch Ring Doorbells along the border!
What I see fellers are state of the art guard towers placed in strategic locations to allow for the mesh network of sensors, cameras, IR that would accomplish the goal of border security. Take this cat and mouse game to the technology age with added manpower.

So, in a nutshell, you are for border security just not a wall?

Got no problems with any of that. But why not add a wall for extra security?

Walls are cheaper in the long run ... no salary, no health insurance, no SS, no retirement, no disciplinary issues. Besides when you think about it they fit right in the bureaucratic world; you can talk to them all you want, but you get the same answer.

As far as walls not working, It just depends on how you do it. The Berlin Wall was pretty effective as are prison walls. All you have to wrap your head around is that the wall is there to keep the guys on the other side on the other side.

Mick and others know a wall would work. There is only one reason why he, EL and others dont want it. Its because of Trump. They can deny it all they want but its fact. If a border wall were being proposed by Schumer or if we had a democrat for POTUS suggesting the same thing, they woukd be all for it.

God forbid one of their family members gets killed by an illegal. They will probably say in the eulogy “well, (name) had a good life cut short by a great immigrant being at the wrong place at the wrong time, but now (name) is in a better place”.

They are like locks on doors. They won't stop the determined with the right tools, but they will the casual offenders who just walk across unsecured borders ... with or without drugs, arms, or any other stuff we don't want. You can't get rid of the border patrol, but you can help them be effective with a good barrier. And there's no disputing that when someone crosses a real barrier that they didn't just accidentally cross the line in error.
