The shut down thread

Did Acosta really know this?

“You know as well as anybody that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass an appropriations bill, right, you know that?”

Andrea Mitchell did the same thing to Pence. Pence should have said something like we’re working with the Russians to hack those final votes to 60.

The best thing about these last two shutdowns is it reveals the useful idiots on each side, who are ready and willing to go along with their team, no matter what.

If they can't get it done today, they should pass bills specifically funding the military and the CHIPs program and continue to work the other problems. I am sure such a bill would pass unanimously in both houses.

I don’t recall you being up in arms over Hillary’s remarks about Benghazi - “At this point, what difference does it make.” To her, apparently it makes no difference at all how four Americans were killed, all while her and Ears sat on their fists and rocked back on their thumbs.

The response of "What difference - at this point, does it make?" Was in response to an irrelevant question of "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they’d go kill some Americans?"

She was right, what difference - at that point did it make?

A good facebook out of context meme for the low information 'Mercia crowd - but positing that here makes you look dumb ass hell.

Edit: And before you try to label me as a Clinton supporter you should probably know I think she should probably be serving time for her bullsht.

Good point about the context.

They don't care. They just hate her, hate Obama. So any time one of their own gets exposed as a charlatan (see e.g. Trump at least four times every day), they just revert to invoking some random assault on one of the two of them.

I'm watching CNN on the net, looks like it passed easily.

How long before Trump tweets or makes a statement to the press and takes credit for it, even though he gummed up the first two deals, then sat on the sideline for this to get worked out?

When doing a post accident investigation you always look for the root cause factors. So no the question wasn't irrelevant.

The question nobody I can remember asking was why was the ambassador there.

The whole 'system' is broken in D.C...it's time for a complete desimation or restructuring of many parts of it, and pull many broken things away from Washington and the Federal Government.

This shutdown is a system and function of the Swamp. We need a re-think of the size and function of the entire Federal Government...go back to the Constitution, everything that can be done on the state and local level, should be taken away from the Federal Government...education, healthcare, social services, transportation, welfare and there are so so so many things that can be de-centralized. Mostly ALL of it!

There's TOOOO much grap for power in D.C., on the left is the big money large unions, on the right are the big money corporate donors...and on ,and on, and on. D.C. Incompetence + GREED is needlessly destroying the American people...time after time, politicians say they are going to come in and make changes, but they never ever do.

Not sure what's the best path, I'm not an expert on it, but apparently there's strong growing support for the Convention of States project if anyone on VN is familiar with that?

WHY CALL A CONVENTION OF STATES?
Simple: to bring power back to the states and the people, where it belongs. Unelected bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. shouldn’t be allowed to make sweeping decisions that impact millions of Americans. But right now, they do. So it all boils down to one question: Who do you think should decide what’s best for you and your family? You, or the feds? We’d vote for the American people every single time.

WHAT’S A CONVENTION OF STATES ANYWAY?
Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.”

I guess.

Would it make any difference if the root cause was just poor home training by these guys versus being militant/radical terrorists that hated Americans?

With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator. Now, honestly, I will do my best to answer your questions about this, but the fact is that people were trying in real time to get to the best information. The IC has a process, I understand, going with the other committees to explain how these talking points came out. But you know, to be clear, it is, from my perspective, less important today looking backwards as to why these militants decided they did it than to find them and bring them to justice, and then maybe we’ll figure out what was going on in the meantime.

Do you even know what you’re arguing? You explicitly implied “how” was the context, not that four Americans are dead.
