The shut down thread

You think shutting down the government won't impact the economy? It's kind of a foregone conclusion.
we have the tail wagging the dog here with the governments impact on the economy. you may be correct, but that's not the way things should work.

The warnings are getting starker: Trump's government shutdown is becoming catastrophic for the economy

Zero GDP? Negative GDP? 800,000 out of work. He's putting it all on the line for something that's of marginal benefit to the country at best.
I do not.
I believe our economy works in spite of, not because of, government. I further believe that a partial shutdown will not be a meaningful impact to the economy.
Said like a man who can’t wait to build defensive fortifications using the bodies of his neighbors.

I see that you have SDS and are no longer capable of rational thought. Sad. I held out hope that the red hat wouldn't claim any more victims.

Tick Tock.

Yeah, sure Septic.

Soon you’ll be back to saying you’re just trolling.

For real, I’m glad you’ve come out of the closet.

I haven't admitted to trolling anyone in years. That narrative is a defense mechanism Donny's nut huggers have adopted to shield themselves from having to address my Eric Berry over the middle truths.

No ****, since Obama left office. Like I said, I’m proud of you, slugger. 👊🏼

Sounds like an emergency ripe for a shovel ready project to bail it out. Surely the Dims with their Obamaesque crisis management can see the need for tossing billions at shovel ready projects in times of crisis ... they set the precedent for that and being duplicitous. Funny, though, I don't recall seeing a final report regarding Pelosi's field mice or any other of the other top Dim stimulus agendas.

Who would need a bailout if it weren't for the Republican policies continually resulting in economic crises?

If this is such a dire emergency why isn’t congress working on a veto proof bill to save our country? When will we stop pretending the president holds all the power?

I'm not sure it's a dire emergency, but it will definitely take a bite. The president is the primary mover in this case and thus properly takes the blame.

It's not a dire emergency for the dems because trump looked into a tv camera and said he'd own it.

His poll numbers are bearing his mantle carrying.

The list is long and not distinguished, but Greece and half the socialist EU for starters. Look south; there's a whole crop of countries south of Mexico ... again most fall much more in line with our own Dim party principles than anything even remotely fiscally responsible.

Now if you are suggesting that 800,000 government workers who aren't being paid is a problem, workers who don't actually contribute any kind of manufacturing but are more a part of a government welfare program ... just reallocating money, are causing the whole economy to collapse,, then, yeah, we have a big problem. But it certainly isn't one that Trump made.

You think the economy having negative gdp growth isn’t an emergency? Shouldn’t they want to be the white knights saving us from evil Trump?

Puts them in a bind doesn't it. They wanna shout fake news, but this is coming from the WH's own economic advisor

Who with a basic grasp of economics would argue that halting a significant amount of government spending for several weeks would not hurt GDP?

If the border wall being built were an "emergency", Trump wouldn't be waffling on "declaring" it one and circumventing the will of the people.
