I like how all of the Guns N Roses fans are saying it's not even close but it seems to be pretty close as far as fan voting in this thread goes :p



I would take Mellon Collie and The Infant Sadness over everything Guns N Roses has done. I would also take baldie over dreadhead. And Slash should have his teeth kicked in haha. I just can't stand Slash at all.

Personally I think the reason it is close is because it is two different genres of music. Apples to Oranges. The only thing the two bands have in common is that both had/have lead singers who are egotistical dicks.

I can tolerate the Pumpkins(had an ex who loved em). But if asked for a direct comparison who I like better it is easily GNR.

GnR was really active from 1985 to now? Pretty loose definition of "active".

Agreed. Especially the part about the lead singers being egotistical dicks. I love the Pumpkins but I've also thought Billy Corgan came off as an a-hole.

This thread is a joke. One is considered by many one of the best rock groups of all time. The other is one of 1000 alternative bands that sound just the same. This is like choosing between molasses (SP) and maple syrup (GnR).

Both are awesome, right?

If it's a joke to compare GNR and Smashing Pumpkins because of what many people believe, you must believe the aforementioned are awesome based on what many other people believe. Personally, I think Blow is better than Harry Potter and Audioslave is better than Nickelback. But the majority would disagree(look no further than sales and popularity).

Arguing what the majority believes when it comes to an opinion and then saying it's a joke because people disagree is ridiculous.

You must be a 12 year old girl to like any of the "artists" or movies you mentioned. There's a difference between agreeing with a majority of little girls and a majority of respected musicians and music critics.

I suggest you just quit arguing and go turn the lights off in your room, crawl under the sheets, and weep while you listen to your emo music.

Also dissapointing to hear that The Smashing Pumpkins are now considered emo.....

Altidore, you do realize that the pumpkins are held in high regard in the alternative community like GnR are in the hard rock community, right? GnR has more fame to their name, sure, but the Pumpkins still earned a good rep in the 90's for putting out some solid music.

It's just hard to compare these two when they both appeal to a different audience. Like I said, different genres, different tastes. No one opinion is better than the other, but no need to bash one or the other in blind context.
