it seems kind of like austria will follow their co-hosts out of the tournament today. the announcers talked like they played the game of their lives the other day against croatia and they still lost 0-1

I would like to see Romania or Italy advance, at the expense of France... Italy has Romania next.

i agree, but you have to admit that you'd like to see the dutch keep going if they're going to play like they did the other day. that style is so much fun to watch, although i kind of fear that it might also be their undoing in the end, by all acounts their defense is pretty weak, and sooner or later they may run into a hot goalie and not be able to outscore the other team.

I've been to the Netherlands and I really liked it even though I was only there for about a week, (and I was really young.) I would love to see them do well. I still prefer Italy to the rest of the teams, but I would be happy with most winners.

Croatia stunned Germany. I think Germany will be fine but they will have to wait a few more days to clinch. Austria tied Poland but it probably doesn't matter... Germany should advance with Croatia, who has locked up a spot in the second round.

Austria survives. amazing, Poland did everything they needed to do to win, but fouled in the penalty box during extra time. The game ended in a tie, but because Poland had 3 GA to Austria's 2, Austria advances.

wow, what an amazing finish, i can't believe austria pulled out a draw, too bad i didn't really get to see it. i had to work all day yesterday, so i had recorded the games on my dvr to watch last night. appaprently my cable went out for a little while yesterday afternoon, or my box just messed up, because the recording cut out in 85th minute and never came back on!! i ended up having to watch the highlights on sportcenter.

And since Germany needs to win, Austria is pretty much gone. I'm glad to see them playing others tough. Their fans had a petition going around asking that the team not play in the tournament for fear of embarassing themselves.

Group of Death Day 2.

Italy faces Romania in a game that Italy needs to rebound in. Netherlands takes on France. France would do well to get three points, but a tie wouldn't be the end of the world. If the Dutch win, they are into the quarterfinals.

The Dutch are up 1-0 at the half. I'm pretty sure this simply isn't Italy's year. They needed a win today, and probably would have had it not been for a pretty bad call to disallow a goal because of offsides.

I actually watched the Germany game last night. I am far from a soccer fan, but it was surprisingly entertaining. I just got tired of all the floppage and Germany's bunch of whining cry baby sore losers....but it was entertaining.

2-0 holland!! the dutch look pretty unstoppable so far in this tournament. orangewilly, the flopping is kind of just a part of soccer. i'm a big soccer fan, but that is one of the game's big drawbacks to me, it seems a little rediculous to see a player writhing in agony on the ground like he's just been dropped by a snipers bullet, and then 30 seconds later be up and fine

Agreed...I'm a player, and I gurantee you, you will never see me flopping around when someone happens to get with a foot of me in a game...

to me it's not so much the flopping that's rediculous, but it's the players acting like they've suffered some terrible injury and then running off like it's no big deal a few seconds later

The Netherlands locked up first place yesterday. It should be exciting to see who else advances. Romania has a better chance than people may think. I'm still hoping Italy gets by.

Spain won a thriller today. If Greece doesn't score here soon, they are out.

the end of that spain game was pretty crazy. i wasn't watching too closely for most of the game, and watched almost none of the second game. today's group didn't really have any teams that get me too excited to watch.

This has been a pretty good Euro from where I sit. Looking forward to the rest of the tournament

The final games of Round 1 start tomorrow. Portugal is safe, but the game between Turkey and the Czech Republic determines who advances. The teams are tied in goal differential and points scored. A tie tomorrow means a shootout to advance.

Me too, i'll be glad when it gets to the point that ties are out of the equation and each game will eventually end with a winner. This isn't quite as good as the World Cup, simply because there are several teams and players from non-European nations that I enjoy watching, but I still enjoy international games over club games most of the time. I have enjoyed Champions League the past couple seasons, and have really come to like Liverpool, but as far as club goes that's about it for me.

For sure. You can't have the biggest soccer tournament in the world without Brazil and Argentina.
