is that Kiffin is now in a no lose situation. If he doesn't do well, he can blame the sanctions. On the other hand, if he wins in spite of the limitations he becomes the new Butch Davis. Either way, he comes out of this alright.

Also, what are the chances Kiffin knew something like this was coming before he accepted the job? Surely this didn't come as a surprise...
I'm pretty sure Garrett assured him any punishment wouldn't be severe. Had Kiffin known it was going to be this bad, I'm not so sure he wouldn't have chosen to stay at UT, but we'll obviously never know.

Agree with you there SGM. The USC job as it is today is very different than the USC job that Kiffin accepted a few months back. Of course he had no way of knowing what would unfold with Texas and Oklahoma about to come on board either. Kiffin's career would have been better served staying in Knoxville than to walk into the mess he is now in.
