The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Nah. I'm right. You said it was in the rules. I pointed out the careful diction in thoae rules. You then proved my point (my favorite part) and then accused me of having no real world experience after you proved my point and further explained it.

If anyone was dumb as a sack of rat turds in that exchange, it was you: the old, white curmudgeon who lives to piss and moan. You're even starting **** in the OT thread with other Vol fans about football.

I pray for your happiness.

Who are you praying to?

Lol, you mean what they "the protestors" are not doing. They take a knee or hide in a tunnel to" draw attention" yet do actually nothing. If you are drawing attention to something it is to get others to join your cause, but the only thing anyone could join is doing what they are doing which does not fix anything. When are they going to do something to fix "their problem" for others to join?

Oh, and as another poster stated, you are more likely to be struck by lighting than face the problem they have. They act like there is this epidemic of racist cops shooting people or beating them up.

There have been abuses of whites and other races, but you do not hear about that because groups like the NAACP want to keep that chip on their shoulder from 50 plus years ago.

Also has many on other side keep wanting to say we are saying they should not have freedom to protest, when in fact we are saying it is when and how they doing it that we have a problem with. I mean you have over 24 hours in a day, the game takes roughly 4 in that one day, so plenty of time to "protest" outside of National Anthem.

You're here talking about it, people everywhere are talking about it - all they did was take a knee and let trump be trump. Their 'do nothing' silence is speaking volumes. Just look at the outrage here in this forum, it's at a degree much higher than when the protests aren't peaceful.

You'll tune into the superbowl, and you'll wear nike gear. The NFL will be fine - but the discussion will still be had.

"You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Two reasons: First of all, I think he's a good actor, okay? To me, that counts. Second, he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't f#ck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with."

Saw it today shopping for sneakers at Dicks Sporting Goods. I was like "really dude"...you're under 80..why are you wearing socks and flip flops..not sandals..but flip flops..

Lots of Europeans do it when I lived there it was almost a daily event watching all the Germans with socks and sandal/flip flops.

I would be interested to see what some charities that associate themselves with this protest are reaping. That stupid ice bucket challenge raised 41M in new donations and according to the logic of many on this board it was ineffective grandstanding.

Ageism!

I haven't seen that combo since I went to spike prune juice at the nursing home/visit my grandmata.

Whether you agree with NFL player kneeling or not, I think Villanueva from the Steelers summed this up best.

“What people don’t understand is ... we’re not talking about the same thing,” the 29-year-old athlete told reporters. “People who are taking the knee, they’re not saying anything negative about the military … [or] about the flag. They’re just trying to protest the fact that there are some injustices in America.”

Admitting that he was “one of the first ones who took offense” when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began sitting out the anthem last year to call attention to racial injustice and police brutality, Villanueva said he now better understands the protest.

“I have learned ... I don’t know what it’s like to be from Dade County [or] from Lakeland. I can’t tell you that I know what my teammates have gone through. I’m not going to pretend that I have the righteous voice to tell you to stand up for the national anthem,” he said.

At the same time, Villanueva stressed, if people choose to stand for the national anthem, “it doesn’t mean they don’t believe in these racial injustices.”

I know polls are unreliable but it's interesting

In general I agree with this but I go back to CK's original protest - he said he cannot support a country or flag that has these injustices.

His right to be sure but his protest was aimed at the flag and this country. I understand why people have strong disagreements with his protest. It ignores all the good of the country due to one wrong as perceived by CK.

This current round is completely muddled - some of it is CK's original protest, some of it is defending CK's right, some of it is a show of team unity, some of it is being mad at Trump, some of it is peer pressure.

I would suggest if the protest is anything other than CK's original complaint that doing the protest during the anthem is nonsensical. Do it before, after, on your own or whatever but if you are mad at Trump, kneeling during the anthem is just bizarre.

Yeah, they probably would have collected a lot more if they set the U.S. flag on fire while wearing it... putting the fire out with the ice bucket over their head. Let me know how that works out. You really can't be serious, right?

Heck, I get it, meaning I am not a cop lover... I really really get it, but what they are doing is not a protest, it doesn't help, it looks foolish.... they took the bait from Trump which was huge mistake. He controls the board. They want to do something for real.... virtually everyone could understand that... this is just grand standing... the problem now is there is no easy fix. The owners should have taken care of their problem last year.... regardless, now maybe some real good could happen... get the NFL off the public welfare.

At the risk of being called racist, was he black? Black dudes usually rock socks when wearing flip flops. At the same time, white dorks usually have on Crocks or Tevas.

all the players kneeling are protesting police's brutality against a few black and that America is the only racist nation in the world. am I right?

He can leave the team. This crap won't fly with me. I lost 2 uncle's in WWII. My father served in Korea. I served in Desert Storm. You disrespect this country and this flag...I have no use for you.

exactly. my dad was on a mine sweeper in the pacific. his ship was badly damaged when blowing a big clump of mines. they went to Iwo Jima for repairs, while my dad was there, they had him be a PT boat operator. well, something happened and their supplies were cut off. My dad ate spam 3x a day for 45 days before new supplies finally arrived. screw those whiny NFL brats.
