The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

I'm not sure why people are so up in arms about this issue. I see the anthem like I see prayer. It's a personal issue for each individual. Your feelings are your own for reasons that are your own. If someone doesn't stand it's for reasons that are theirs and it doesn't have to match your personal life experience.

I served 9 years. I don't want someone else claiming to be offended for me. When I choose to be offended, I'm capable of doing it myself.

Great post!!!! So many people who never served are offended for people who did serve.

Well, yeah, I kind of feel the same way... the problem is they really have no principles and they have no protest, not really. It's a show. Chris Jackson did the same thing in the 90s, didn't stand, when the public figured it out.... they suspended him. What do you know the Koran at that point said for him to stand. :) I have no respect for the guy, he gave up his principles for millions, not to feed himself but to have millions. I get the whole principle thing, but when you are doing it on someone else's dime... there can be blowback. Nobody has to support that.

If you have principles, I get it... I am torn myself. However, in this instance... people don't have to support it with their personal funds or with tax dollars.... that is their choice as well.

What injustice are the players experiencing?

Their brudda's and sista's are getting killed by white cops. Nevermind black on black murders are at a staggering rate but let's focus on kneeling in unity at work during the anthem. Let's tell whitey no disrespect to the troops and vets and we be alright.

You ever heard of the pledge of allegiance?
You may not understand it or agree with it but some people take it seriously.

As several have said.....it's a stupid and lazy protest.

Also worthy of mention.....does anyone know what the NFL rules say about the anthem?

We covered it already. Verbage dictates that it's ultimately up to the NFL.

Well, that is where I am confused. LOL

- The stuff last year I guess idk... police violence
- Then you get all these quotes this year on inequality
- the guy in tights in Seattle says he was improperly roughed up by the pigs
- more stuff on racism, etc.
- Then when Trump sent out his bait... it really became about their dog finished second

What I find strange is there is no protest on the poor people's tax dollars to support welfare checks to the player and owners.

- Next week it might be they just don't want to share the locker room with white people. Who knows?

Update: Refunds inbound from DirecTV, now this is a freaking protest!

You are like watching a dog chase it's tail. You set up the strawmen so nice, but invariably you miss your own set up. It's been solid entertainment and you've kept me laughing today. Thanks and Cheers.

Race relations got worse under Obama and it wasn't because white people were mad that they had a black POTUS. Let this sink in....Unicoi County, Tennesse , voted for Obama in 2008. If you're not familiar with Unicoi it is in the northeastern part of Tn on the border in the Valley and mountains. It's pretty much the whitest place on the planet.

Uuuhh...nope..soo much ignorance and misinformation..oh if you're unfamiliar with the convention of alphabetical order Unicoi County is 10th from the bottom of the list.

So they are not permitted to fight for injustices suffered by others? At what income level should I stop caring about the plight of others?

Nobody is fighting for injustice, oh boy, their knees must hurt, and the butts of the guys now sitting on the benches. Ohmy, please stop.... my stomach is killing me.

It’s the civilian equivalent of a hashtag or coloring your profile pic. It does nothing. And conveniently it’s done at work so they had to be there anyways. No extra effort needed.

I’m fine with the practice, it helps better identify the idiots. It’s like a rebel flag bumper sticker.
