The Thread Where We Debate About Healthcare in America

Medicare and Medicaid are health insurances.

The point remains. You cannot give more people care, of equal or greater value, without increasing costs.

Now, you mentioned health insurance. I agree. There’s a lot of problems there and most were made worse when Obama forced everyone to buy their product.

But you can provide some care. Medicare Physicians and facilities aren't always the best but private insurance doesn't equate to better care than Medicare/Medicaid.

1. I’m glad to see you at least admit single payer isn’t the utopia many claim that will give us all better care.

2. Between state funded insurance and private charity we already provide some care

(Has anyone cited that adding gov't as a middle-man adds cost?)

It was never intended to give all of us better care.

It was never intended to give all of us better care.

It is represented that way by the left. Especially in films like Sicko by Michael Moore where he attempts to pretend we have 3rd world level healthcare

Not just any middle man either, a middle man that is incentivized to increase spending and costs. No government agency saves money. They all spend every dime they have so they can lobby for more next year.

Any of us who were in the military can attest to this. At the end of the physical year it’s like early Christmas for your unit. Because they fear if they have money left over, people will realize they’re overfunded.

Spending other peoples' money on others is the least efficient spending known to man.

ETA, it's been a joy to watch your worldview transform the past years. I don't mean that to sound condescending. Kudos, my friend.

Thank you. Honestly? This board helped. It gave me a way to sound off on my views and have them challenged. In areas I found I was wrong and the evidence supported a different view, I shifted.

Same has happened to me here and elsewhere as well, believe it or not.

It is funny how we all (well, most on here at least) treat American healthcare as just the obvious and best way to do it. These reactions paint a different picture.

I wish people would stop trying to use the British healthcare system or any other system to try and compare to ours.

Keep on wishing and hoping, because until we get rid of our profit-centric (as opposed to patient-centric) healthcare system, we're not gonna stop comparing.

We are right now talking about all the high % of pork vs actual relief for the American people in a congressional bill because of “ one of the worst health emergencies in history “ and you are wanting the government to be in charge of our health care system like Europe has ? Your ability to avoid the facts as they actually present themselves and replace them with a utopian wet dream is indeed impressive.

Not any more, now they take our money and print twice that and have a spendapalooza. Our politicians are drunk on spending and power.

I am afraid that the taxpayer doesnt matter anymore...like you said just print.

Just a "crisis" named bill in the name of more discretionary spending.

so admittedly just going off the titles hear but how are advertisements part of the health care system?

and I am even in favor of removing medical ads. but blaming the ads on our "American healthcare" seems strange, even for you. I still see yearly advertisements to sign up for ACA. plastered all over the trains.
