The Tiger Woods saga

I agree 100%. Tour has more great players than it's had since the 70s and deeper than it was 15 yrs ago.

I don't want him to win. I do see some good things in his swing that will allow him to be relevant again.Getting away from that "stack n tilt" BS Sean Foley had him doing. That dude is a pompous ahole that has zero business teaching my 72 yr old mom.

It's not exactly stack and tilt. There is a difference in maintaining right leg flex, shoulder turn versus dropping left shoulder, and follow through position.

I know.... It's a variation of it. I've been around Sean enough.

You think so? Seems like we always hear that about every current era. The 2000s had Phil, Vijay, Sergio, Els, Love, Furyk etc.

Phil aside...... Miller, Watson, Trevino, Palmer (for a few yrs), Hale Irwin, and Gary Player are WAY better that above mentioned. No comparison. JMO:wink2:

I don't know how it's possible to make the comparison to begin with. The Tiger prime era wasn't absent of superstars though.

shouldn't have said, No comparison. I'm a tad biased...will find any way possible to disparage The Lion King.

In earlier posts I can't believe I was defending him....I do think his is close to being relevant again. He is good for the game.

Ready for the haters, but Tiger played pretty consistent on a tough course all weekend. He's gotta be happy and thinking he's starting to figure out his game. Most notable was finishing 2nd for the weekend in driving distance (45 in accuracy isn't great, but it's a lot of improvement). He also finished first in proximity to the hole. But, as we all know from this thread, Tiger isn't a good ball striker.

Until this week, the only 2 balls he has struck squarely in the last couple of years were when he stepped on a rake in a bunker at San Diego.

All that matters to him right now is being ready for Augusta.

agreed, but we're only three tournaments in for him and he seems to be on the right track. He's not booked for anything right now, but I think he definitely needs at least one more tournament before Augusta. I'd play at least two if I were in his shoes.

I still can't believe I'm defending the "Lion King," but.....Anybody understand what his body/mind has been thru the last 5 or so yrs? Numerous surgeries, Addiction for no telling how long, embarrassment, and (no HGH)? Anyone really think his stay in Oxford (sex addiction clinic)was just for sex???? Come on.

He will never be what he used to be, but he will be a factor again and will be a factor at Augusta for as long as he plays there.

Yep... Augusta National is one of those horses for courses kind of places. There have been a lot of 40 and even 50somethings make weekend nostalgia runs.

I have never said that he was done, just that he was lost in his mind.

I’ve watched Fred Couples play at the Masters. It’s pretty cool.
I met his dad down there about 30 years ago. Looked just like Freddie.

Edit: Another interesting fact is that the Couples family name is Italian and actually changed from Coppola . Freddie is related to director/producer Francis Ford Coppola. Nobody may give a rat's a$$, but I thought it was interesting.

This kinda surprised me. I didn’t think he would play both.

If he remains pain free in his back and no other injuries it will be exciting to see what he can do. That first Sunday with him the final group will be awesome. Or even in contention on Sunday will be great.
