The Tiger Woods saga

I think it's crazy that he's coming back already. It's like watching a really slow train wreck. I'll watch the British more if he's in it though.

I watch regardless. I mean, I'm watching the Traveller's and the Irish this weekend, so him coming back isn't a big deal to me, except we'll have to watch him maneuver the whole course, eat sandwiches and crackers between holes, maybe even a banana. And, of course, we'll get to see all 18 of his holes on Sunday that were completed before the leaders even tee off during the live coverage of the leaders. That's if he makes the cut. If not, we'll just get to see Thursday's round for the third time.

agreed, I like to see him back, and as close to 100% as possible, and this seems like he rushing it, do to it being his tournament..

on the other hand, if he's as motivated as he says about catching Jack, as he says he is, you wouldn't think he would risk it

Are there any pros that fear Tiger Woods anymore? He doesn't intimidate anybody now a days and cbs and espn just give him air time because it gets eyeballs on their channels. I personally think he's done. He'll never be the player he was mentally or physically. I admired him for his skills but I couldn't stand his cry baby antics on the course that would get any other golfer a ton of bad press.

He's still very respected. It's not so much you're intimidated by his play as you are just knowing who he is. Kind of like playing Jack in the early '80s. You know you can beat him, but the hoopla, crowds and knowing the ability for the remarkable can happen at any moment definitely puts doubt in your head. Just look at Sergio. Sergio never rebounded from the fear of Tiger.

It's also a fact that Sergio was not as good as people gave him credit for.

I disagree. He plays much better when he's out of the limelight and nothing important is on the line. Tiger scarred him for life on the big stage.

Depends on how you measure success on the tour. Major titles are the benchmark for all good players. He has none. He's come close, but he has none. And he's only had 8 wins on tour his entire career.

Sergio is a joke. He has no marbles and wilts when the pressure is on. He's done it on every conceivable stage he can do it on. He's never been anything more than a never gonna be and was spot on in his assessment is himself a few years ago when he said he didn't have what it takes.

He was primed to be the next big thing and he crapped the bed against Tiger and never recovered. It's unfair to say he only has 8 PGA wins when he plays so much on the European Tour. He has a TPC win and is probably the most dominant player in Ryder Cup play in the game right now. But put him on a marquee stage, especially one where Tiger is a threat and he falls apart. Tiger is his kryptonite and destroyed any chance he had.

I mean clearly being the 8th best golfer in the world just equals washout.

Hooray for moral victories?

Being the marquee player to win the Ryder is a moral victory? Winning The Players Championship is a moral victory? Being 8th best in the world is a moral victory?

With your standards, even Auburn sucked last year.

Gimme Poulter over Garcia in any Ryder Cup format every single time.

I'll take Garcia's lengthy Ryder Cup success over Poulter's two good years every day of the week. And twice in Ryder Cup years. That's laughable. One win and you think Poulter is better. Just funny.

One win? Dude is 12-3 with a far better winning percentage than Garcia.

far better? Are you serious? 12-3 in 3 tourneys while Garcia 16-8-4 playing in six appearances. That's double. It's akin to crowning the Cubs NL East Champs because they started the first week of the season 5-1.

Um, Ryder Cups appearances are 4 to 6 and percentages are 80% to 64%. Hell, even Luke Donald has better numbers.
