The Tiger Woods saga

Yeah statistically the odds are against him. That training will break you physically and mentally. I would put my money against him making it through BUDS.

The odds are against him, but not by an insane amount. Prior to all his injuries, he could've easily passed the physical demands.

I think if anything, he'd have been peered out due to introverted nature.

He's proven since the cheating scandal and divorce that he's a head case

And head cases are the first one to break

There is a huge difference between looking in-shape because you lift and actually being a frog man. Less than 10% of each class actually make it through. You literally have to be able to live in the water, run for days, and lift to the point of muscle failure. The odds are insanely against him. Most people are physically broken by the training.

Oh. Yeah, I mean clearly if Tiger just walked off the street one day, stopped in the Navy Recruiter Office and said "send me to SEAL School", then yeah, he's going to fail. But he's already a fit freak, had he actually put the effort to go to SEAL School, the physical part would not have been an issue for him. Next.

I completely disagree. In the article they made it clear people who were far more physically fit than he'll ever be couldn't make it.

while the instructors rolled their eyes when Tiger said he would have been one of them were it not for golf. They've seen Olympic medalists and Division I football players quit, unable to stand the pain. A top-ranked triathlete washed out.

To say it wouldn't be an issue....come on. You're way over-valuing how much of a "fit freak" Woods is, which was vflgolfer's point.

You're only looking at Tiger as a golfer. He set himself up to be a golfer. Anyone with the drive and motivation of Eldrick, would've blasted through the physical part because he would've trained himself to be ready.

No, I'm taking the word of guys that train these guys and who and what they've seen.

A guy that is a top world tri-athlete most definitely has the drive and motivation and would have trained circles around Woods, yet couldn't "blast through the physical part".

A triathlete has endurance and little strength. Not surprised at all a triathlete struggled.

want me to be technical and call it three schools? BUD/S, parachutist and sqt? It's still a freaking school. Then they go to school again. Then they go again. Being an a**hat just to be one is annoying.

Slow your roll, I was just messing with you

I'm just going to say....agree to disagree. You think he would have blasted through the physical part, the ones that actually put them through the ringer disagree.

It's their job to tell them they can't make it. That no one can make it. It's part of it.

You'd be surprised at the physical stature of some who have made it through. Many who are less athletic and physically strong as he.

I have learned through my military career that being physically in shape (great shape for that matter) and being athletic aren't even related. It's mind boggling how many PT studs can't play sports. Like even sort of in a backyard, company morale PT kind of way. I can't speak for SEALS in that regard (but only because I haven't played sports with them), but I can say I've seen SF guys that fit what I'm talking about

With Tiger not teeing it up this week, the US Open seems almost completely out of the equation. Will we ever see him out there again?
