The Tiger Woods saga

Yeah. The guy whose biggest rival was Walter Hagen would find problem with this.
How many Blacks played at Augusta National while Bobby Jones was alive? How many Blacks did anything ( other than caddie or serve food) at Augusta National while Jones was alive? To people of his upbringing, golf was the ultimate (white) gentleman's game.

To save you looking it up, Lee Elder played 4 or 5 years after Jones' death. Jones would spin in his grave.

Eh, Clifford Roberts was the real piece of **** racist and nobody gives the first damn what he thinks.

Jones would be too concerned with Tiger handing him his ass on the course to worry about his Christmas outfit.

Jones would spin in his grave to see what the face of golf looks like today. Clifford Roberts killed himself off # 4 I think. The long par 3.

You can't compare eras in sports. Different game entirely. Tiger would have to swing a bit easier if he played with Jones' clubs and balls.

Nobody cares what Jones would think today either. In case you you forgot, it's not 1936 any more. But at least we now know (though previously suspected) the real reason you don't like Tiger Woods.

And self awareness is real, because Roberts got exactly what he deserved.

And I can compare eras in sports because I just did.

Jones is the reason Augusta exists. Tiger is the reason Augusta exists as it does today.

Do you really think that Augusta National would not have been lengthened by now, without Tiger in existence? Really? The golf course and the tournament would be the same.

The reason that I don't like Tiger Woods has nothing to do with his race, if that is what you are implying. I was talking about the Old South and Bobby Jones, not myself.

I enjoyed following both Lee Elder and Charlie Sifford many years ago, before Tiger was even a thought. Play the race card. That's all you've got. Tiger is an arrogant ass, and he deserves what has happened to him.

Oh, you watched African-Americans play golf. Well I guess that clears things up.

I sure did, and never criticized one until this prick came along.

Edit: Charlie Sifford covered the ball about as well as anyone that I have ever seen strike it. He followed through very low and around, well under the constant cigar in his mouth....similar to Chi Chi. Lee Elder was a very friendly man on the course. I saw both play in person a few times. They were both gentlemen .

It's a shame D4H is here. Otherwise, you'd win gold for best troll on here. Silver isn't anything to be ashamed of though.

Exactly when did I bring up my view of race and Tiger Woods? I brought up Augusta National's view of race before the mid-1970's.

Everything else that I have said has been to defend myself against being called a racist because I don't like the man. Why don't you all just defend Tiger on his multiple affairs, his language on the course, his arrogance toward fans and media, his many refusals to talk to the press when he has played badly (although he is getting better at that), etc.?

Why not call Hank Haney and Stevie racists too , since they won't have anything to do with him anymore, either?

So, in summary, you're either dumb or a troll. I'm trying to be nice and call you a troll. Just quit talking. It's in your best interest here.

Read about Tiger refusing to even call his half brother, stricken with MS, needing a caretaker, and about to lose his home. Earl Woods had 3 other children with another wife, and Tiger was close to all until he was about 15 or 16. Earl Jr. left repeated messages for Tiger to at least call his half brother Kevin to cheer him up. Tiger is a miserable failure as a person in my view.

Tiger Woods Won't Help Half Siblings - ABC News.

Maybe his half siblings are racists too , along with me, Hank Haney and Stevie.

.....or maybe you swing on Tiger's nut sack.

Edit: I think golf is harder for him now that he is off steroids.

Why don't you and Doodoo zer take the reasons that I have given for not liking him, and tell me why I should like a person like that? I don't like people just because they play sports. Why should I like Tiger Woods?

Then why even bring up what a miserable ***** and his racist friend Bobby Jones thought 85 years ago? Quit trying to walk it back.

Probably because that is what came to my mind when I saw the picture. Golf has changed markedly since the Bobby Jones era. I was only pointing that out.

Hell , I watched Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts for years on the Masters telecast on CBS from the Butler Cabin. I listened to Bobby Jones interviewing the winners and runnersup, and low amateur, while struggling to get his breath when he was not that far from his death. He was paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. He would say a few words, gasp for breath, and say a few more.

I have a picture of Bobby Jones sitting in a golf cart on the 15th hole , in the fairway not 5 yards away from the ball, watching Bobby Nichols hit into the green during the tournament on Sunday. Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts were the Masters when I was in high school and college.

By the way, Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts were no different from most privileged white people in the South in the 1900's, so don't judge them too harshly. That's just how it was back then. Not even limited to privileged whites. They were representative of the times. No better, no worse.

Actually, Clifford Roberts was originally from Iowa, and was a big Wall Street investor. He shot himself at age 83, while suffering from cancer and a stroke. Both of his parents had committed suicide also.

Jones was from Atlanta society, and more than likely had grandparents who fought for the South in the Civil War. Since his grandparents would probably have been about 55 or 60 when Jones was born, I feel sure that his views on race would be different from people today. He grew up in a different era.

Jones had degrees from Harvard in Literature, Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering, and Law from Emory University. He was a gentleman's gentleman, and an attorney by trade. The fact that he was able to achieve what he did in golf while remaining an amateur, and playing against full time professionals was amazing. He won 13 of the 31 Majors that he played in. In closing, don't judge people of another era unless you walked a mile in their shoes.
