His confidence is shot for now. He may not get it back. Most of his problem is that he has lost his mental edge. He thought that he was unbeatable, and he pretty much was.Your shtick is so old. At least bring insight, just once. Just one time.
Well, in the 2002 PGA, Woods had pulled to within 1 stroke of Beem, when Beem eagled # 11, and then made a 35 footer for a birdie on 16 when Tiger had again pulled to within a stroke. Beem had the luxury of 3 putts on the last hole to beat Woods by 1 stroke.Rich Been never took down Tiger.
Beem's eagle on # 11 made Tiger flinch, and bogey 2 holes in a row when he was only one back of Beem. He stuck it in Tiger, and broke it off. Made Tiger play like Earl Sr. for 2 holes until he regrouped. The only thing Beem ever took down more than Tiger was plated at the buffet line. Dude was leading after the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
Beem didn't do anything that others had not done before or since.
Taking down Tiger would involve a come from behind win where Tiger was leading going into the final round and lost. Which is what Yang did. He took him down.
Flat out ignoring the role of injuries in that equation is ridiculous. In the 12 years that Tiger was on tour before Y.E. Yang took him down, Tiger had 65 wins and 14 Majors. In the 8 years since, Tiger has 14 wins and 0 Majors. 9 of his 14 wins since 2008 came on 4 golf courses. Bay Hill (3), Memorial (2), Pebble Beach (2), and Firestone (2). The combination of Y.E. Yang and the fire hydrant he drove into after his wife hit him with a 9 iron took him down.
He's been injured every week for 8 years? Didn't he win a U.S. Open while injured? I'm not saying that injuries have played no part, but he has changed his swing so many times that he is a confused mess compared to the early Tiger. He has no go to shot, and no consistency, and his short game is nothing like it used to be. Injuries do not explain his putting and chipping woes.Flat out ignoring the role of injuries in that equation is ridiculous.

Stevie told Tiger that if he would close with 4 birdies on the last 4, the title was his. Only Stevie was wrong, because Beem answered everything thrown at him. The last run that Tiger made was answered with a 35 foot birdie by Beem at #16. Beem took him down.

Beem answered everything that Tiger threw at him, and beat him with Tiger breathing down his neck the whole round. Every time that Tiger got within one, Beem extended his lead.Jesus, you're now saying dumber **** than that utterly ridiculous Bobby Jones meltdown you had a several weeks back.
Beem led Tiger (and most everybody else) the entire weekend and played the round of his life to beat Tiger (and everybody else) like many before and after him have. There was no take down. It was a guy not worthy of cleaning Tigers clubs playing the round of his life to win a golf tournament. Go somewhere else with that foolishness.
You should go to ESPN.com and read "The Secret History of Tiger Woods" from April 21, 2016. It is about how it all unraveled for him. It's not like his career ended 8 years ago. He returned to #1 in the world for a period of time. But, yeah, I'd say everything that's happened in the past 3 years or so is directly attributable to injury.
You're dying for this to all be about his public humiliation, and it's just not.
Read the article. It is a long article going back to his relationship with his father and his father's death, his injuries from training with Navy Seals, his regrets over losing his family unit, his friend Michael Jordan's view of Tiger's career going forward, his agent and others' attempts at an intervention to stop his military training because of the fear of injury, etc. It is a fascinating look into his life, and what brought him to where he is today. Not really. Not at all really, but keep reaching

I agree that he dominated the game in a way that I thought was impossible. However, he has lost his confidence. A lot of his problems are mental. Championship golf requires a mental edge that he has lost, just like Duval did.I've read it. There's no doubt his father's death had an effect on him, but when it comes down to it, he still managed to be the best in the world until he wrecked his back. It's the same thing that's derailed Couples, Duval, Trevino and countless others. Jason Day and Rory McIlroy are fighting that now. It's just a hard sport to stay on top of. The fact that he did it for 10-12 years is pretty amazing.
