1. Tell your wife to come join in the conversation.

2. Hingis was a coke-head and some would argue a coke wheeuuuure.

I tried to create a new profile on this laptop, but it won't let me, so I'll see if she want to give her input on my screen name, somewhat to my discontent. She doesn't know forum protocol, or even how to turn on a computer, so please be gentle with her :)

First off, if it rains, Roger wins. Roger is used to the roof being closed and there is no wind to bother him. His serve has been phenomenal that past week and when the roof is closed it should only get get better. Novak is emotionally fragile. He will either use that to his advantage or his detriment. He's lost five finals, so it will be a tall order for Roger-given how hungry Novak is, but I'm with Dyron - Roger in four.

Novak is hungry almost to a fault right now. He wants these championships so bad that he ends up getting in his own head and sabotaging himself in the finals.

I still say Novak in 4. It's not a sure thing the roof goes up, and if it does I'm not sure it gives Roger as much an advantage as you think. Djokovic is a good indoor player in his own right.

Fair enough, but I REALLY hope you're wrong.

Do you already have your champagne and strawberries?

The most disappointing day for me was when Patrick Rafter was in the Wimbledon finals and, I think he was up the first two sets or was serving for the second, and Sampras's parents were in the crowd for the first time. Rain delay changed the whole match. Sampras said he 'believes in destiny' afterwards. Prick

You weren't a fan of Pistol Pete, or you especially liked Rafter?

I think the most disappointing final was the year Ivanisevic beat Phillipoussis. What a bore. They changed the grass the net year to slow down the surface (a little).

Been trying to reply off and on since you posted this, but it kept saying 'please wait 46 thousand seconds before posting again.' Anyway, I can answer that for her. She loved Rafter - hated Sampras. i remember back around 1990, not long after we met, our first argument was over Sampras. Silly, I suppose, but there it is..

I never have been a Federer fan for some reason. I don't dislike the guy; I respect him very much. I just never have really been behind him. I'm a Nadal guy. I was pulling for Djokovic in this match, but I have to admit, when Fed's ball went into the net on that last point, something inside me died a little. I think that was probably his last hoo-rah. And I always appreciate a good champion. And a champion he is!

6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.

Great match. Federer, at 32, breaks twice in 4th to extend match. Tremendous effort. Can't be overstated how huge that effort was. I thought the 5th was his. If the others in the "Top 4" are playing 5th sets in major finals at age 32, I'll drive wherever you are and kiss your ass.

Did Djoker save his own career today? Seems a bit dramatic to suggest, but maybe so. He takes over as #1. Can Nadal get back to the top?

Congrats to Nole.

On to the hardcourts.

I'm with you. I'm a Nadal guy. But Fed was out there at 32 playing balls out and almost winning the thing against an in-prime Djokovic. I gotta give the man his props. He's great.

It will be a while before Nadal gets the #1 ranking back. He has a BOATLOAD of points to defend that he ain't gonna be able to defend. Last year he won Monreal, Cincy, and the US Open. He might win one of those three this year. Maybe.

Nadal can get back to #1, but I don't see it happening in 2014.

He did. He got out of his own head after being firmly, squarely, and completely in his own head in that 4th set. I think that fifth set effort and consequent hardware will make a few of his demons go away. I expect a STRONG hard court season from the Serb.

I wanted Fed to do it one more time, so I was bummed at the outcome, although I do like Djokovic.

Some of the shots Fed made in the 4th set were of the old Federer variety. It's been a lot of fun to watch him play so well for so long.

Heckuva match; they both left everything on the court.

Just watched the replay and can't get over the high level of play from both players. The shot-making was crisp throughout the match. Federer's level was superb, but Djokovic's was just a step above.

Here are a couple nice roundup articles on the match which sum up my sentiments. Yesterday's match was a glimpse back to the greatness of Federer's top years. It's crazy to say, but this loss -- and his fight back in the 4th set -- may have actually made a few of the anti-Federer fans finally respect the man's place in tennis history.

If you enjoyed the match yesterday, these articles will be worth your read.
