The Tennessee team is loaded, if they don't start playing better soon, this will be Martin's last season on the hill!

SJA - I was just thinking the same thing as I was scrolling down these post. You can see these guys are determined to jell. Lots of new additions that have to work themselves in (Barton, Hubbs and yes even Maymon again).

They are. Hopefully Maymon can take this game and build. Hubbs has to continue to work on defense and he'll be good. Barton looks legit. We get through yhese next three games and I think the team will really be clicking.

A lot of people with the "Cuonzo has got to go if..." Kill me can't let it be 10 games in and already calling for his head. It's pathetic.

This ain't intramurals. If this team doesn't make it to the ncaa tourney he should go. Nothing wrong with that. I hope we make it and have a really good year and don't have to worry about it. Just not confident.

Upstate is a good team... They'll do work this year in their conference. Torrey is an NBA prospect. Ty Greene is a sniper from 3... I think they'll have a great season.

Torrey Craig was the best NBA prospect on the floor last night, not really close.

We need to trim the roster and look at using a 4 guard offensive set. It takes production off the court but we played our best ball last year in that set.

I don't know much about Upstate, but SCU ain't the sort of team anyone cares to know anything about. It seems to me, however, that with the talent we're putting on the floor we should blowing out the SCUs of the basketball world even this early in the season.

That's what Virginia Tech thought too......
Before they lost to USC Upstate last week

Yeah let's keep Stokes or Maymon off the floor and allow double teams. Then allow one of our guards to draw 5 fouls in 5 mins trying to guard a 6'8 post player. Sounds perfect. These new rules will all but kill the 4 guard line up when on defense.

Cal we were playing at home. The officials kept us in the game the first half. T !5/21 UP 2/2.
Not sure about that, but give you this:
We'd of never been behind had Martin not lost his mind and left 3 freshmen on the floor until we were down 10.

You have zero basketball knowledge if that's what you honestly believe, we forced whistles by one shooting 13 threes.
Forced some on the break also.
Like to see them get those ally oops working. Talk about charging up a home crowd.

Stokes and Maymon can still be plenty physical in the paint--you lean on guys to keep them from establishing position, but, no, you can put your forearm in a guy's back; that will be called.

I thought Craig looked good, but I wouldn't go as far as you did, but jmo.

Agree on 4 guard. When Maymon or Stokes goes out slide the other to the 5 and insert Moore at the 4.

Greene took out McRae on one, and fouled Richardson on what would've been a nasty dunk. Thompson had Hubbs and threw it too high, believe it or not.

Richie starting to show some emotion on offense.
Will settle in next game. Playing a little tight, still.

You always an ass. I don't know where I said we need to go exclusively to that set, but we need to run it. It was very effective last year.

And if you think Stokes and Maymon are playing good post defense right now, we'll I don't know what to tell you.

Cause I was saying that before the season, and you said we used it only out of necessity and wouldn't use it this year. I'm just glad you are on board. :)

I'm not saying roll it out there 30 minutes, but when one of those guys goes down I'd use it. Moore has looked better to me than AJD, I think he deserves more minutes.

I'm just messing with you, trying to lighten this place up a little. I'd like to see it around 10-15 depending on how it's working. I still would like AJ to get a few minutes. Speaking of Moore, everyone can see that he deserves more minutes, any thoughts on why he isn't getting them? Unless he's in the dog house for some unknown reason, I'm confused on this one.

It's TWO games in the freaking season. Relax

I am relaxed, but two years of not making the NCAA Tourney is not acceptable. A third year of not making the tourney with this roster will send you to the unemployment line. Martin's teams have always underachieved.

So you think he underachieved in his 1st year?

Well it appears that not many people were happy during the game last night based on the game thread. I was at the hockey game and checking my phone for updates and couldn't believe we were down 13. Gonna watch it tonight on the DVR. I'm glad we won. They did beat Va Tech, but yet again, Martin's teams are slow out of the gate in Nov and Dec. That doesn't bode well.

Yes, he lost too many early games that he should have won, his teams always look unprepared early in the season.
