The UT decline started when...

But they wouldn't be in the SECCG either. Fulmer was waaay to hands on and a control freak unlike Joe pa and Bobby B therefore he wasn't able to allow others to do their jobs so it wasn't going to turn around!

Most seasons maybe but I think this year UT would be there. The East was way down mostly due to injuries but I think this year it would be a rematch Auburn/UT.

Because the fat, tub of goo, lazy, self serving, two bit politician, booster a$$ kissing, coach didn't recruit anybody worth a crap for the last few years of his tenure and tried to coast off of his "equity", which set the stage for the records you listed.

Yeah not sure I'd use those words but not a far stretch.

It's interesting the guy only mentions Dooley to now records. Dropped kiffins 7-6 and even CPFs 5-7 in his last year. No bias at all being shown there. This is why so many people can't grasp that it wasn't so much Dooley but CPF fault. He had 2 5-7 seasons in his last 3 yrs. (Yes with a great season in between but his last season didn't prove his 1st 5-7 season was a fluke imo). People act like Dooley brought the program down when he was right about the same with where UT was at for yrs before he came in.

I'm going to say the first time Cutcliffe left for Ole Miss. If we had retained Cutcliffe and still lost Garner, we would still be recruiting/developing top notch QB talent. I think it's fairly evident now that Fulmer couldn't tie his shoes without Cutcliffe and Chavis.

Bring Fulmer back as the AD.....he couldn't possibly be worse than Hamilton....and knows more FB than Hart...:salute:

Sorry guys , The decline of UT football began when I moved from E Tennessee to Floriduh . Just about the time I left some band of idiots/brothers , fired a HOF Coach . That seems like a REALLY smart move now . Sorry to break it to you folks though , I bought a house down here and I am not coming back .

I hear this all the time. Fulmer didn't have two 5-7 seasons in his last three seasons. In 2005 he went 5-7. In 2006 he went 9-4 in 2007 he went 10-4 and in 2008 he went 5-7. Still a lot better off than we are now.

The decline began when Fulmer began to read his own headlines after the NC.

He began to lose the distinction between himself and UT football. He began to think he didn't need to change with the game. He began to think his sense of loyalty to players and coaches over the whole program was a reason for success rather than failure.

If you want to landmark the event... it was probably the hiring of Randy Sanders as OC. That began a series of events that led to Fulmer's decline and that of the program.

Where does that lame ass Harlem Shake video the team did last winter fit into the decline?

when the UT fans ran off a real UT man Fulmer last season was 5 -7 because hammy fired him the week before Wyoming and the players did not care and did not try. if hammy had waited Fulmer would have been 6-6 or maybe 7-6 after a bowl and then todj boyd was coming to UT.

Doesn't matter because 6/6 or 7/6 isnt't going to cut it here!

The nail in the coffin was 2008 when we fired a guy that had us an Eric Ainge pick away from the sec title the year before. I remember being upset with 10 win season during fulmers tenure. I guess sometimes you have to loose what you have to truly appreciate it. Fulmers record 152-52-1. Since then 27-34.

Were you handing out dollar bills during his 2 "loosing" seasons?

LSU was over looked for Miami at end of 2002.

This. 12 Effing Years ago this coming week. I still hate to think about that game. We may not have beaten Miami, but we were a good matchup with them. Better than Nebraska anyways.
