This is the part they said on talking dead that made me open my eyes to the situation. Kind of an important part to just leave out. The guys Abraham beat to death in the beginning were actually his neighbors and supposed friends that he trusted. He found them raping his wife.
On TTD, the actor that plays Abraham said that it was following what happened in the comics, but wasn't really implied in the episode.
I thought that's something they show have explained better on the show.
Before I watched TD, I was thinking Abraham has some shady abusive background and that's why his family was afraid of him.
I have to agree. I got that he was defending them and they were scared of him but that is a pretty important piece to not explain.
On a side note: there is way too much raping going on in the ZA.
Prior to this season, it was rarely brought up. Was really kinda surprized that it was not shown/talked about more (rape). Unfortunately, I think it would occur way more frequently than the show alludes to or depicts. The terminus event that changed Gareth and company is very realistic if you think about it(not them becoming cannibals). A stronger group taking advantage of a weaker group is very plausible.
They alluded to the Gov doing it to Maggie but stopped short. Then there was Carl's near miss last season. Not to mention the Claimed group calling dibs when they found Michone' shirt in the house Rick was holed up in.
So far this season we've had the terminus flashback, beth's escape, amd now Abraham's flashback.
I'd like to think outside of the things in World War Z that crawl on each other and what not, smart, civilized groups would easily be able to rebuild defenses and what not to protect against idiots and zombies. But I digress.
