The Walking Dead

What was the significance of the book Carol drooped?

Actually it came out of Darryl's bag. It was a book about helping get over childhood abuse. He and Merle were abused by their father when they were younger. It was supposed to signify that he is trying to move on.

In the link I posted above there are some interesting things here and there. I like the picture comparing the exact same shot of the road to Atlanta from the pilot episode and this last one. I didn't notice.

It flipping all the way was the ridiculous part. It would land right on it's top, which it was doing, change camera angles, hey it's in its wheels. Lol

Yeah, I noticed that was well.

I agree. I thought it was odd when carol was squeezing back through the door without looking. All I can figure is they had just been through there and felt it was safe.

If I were really nitpicking though, I would ask how all the campers died in there simultaneously.

If it had landed upside down it would have made more sense.

Otherwise I thought it was a pretty good episode overall.

Dehydration would be my guess as to why all those campers died in that hallway. Or like it was mentioned in TTD someone in that camping group kills the others while they are sleeping.

I think I know when and how Dawn dies. The first time she decides to slap Carol, Carol is going to flashback to getting beat by Ed and go ballistic. Nobody slaps Carol for fun. Man, that could be such a good scene.

I went back and watched some parts again and Carol actually was aiming for Noah's legs.

Same for me. It wasn't great but I didn't think it was bad either. I just get tired of that argument.

So we see people blasting the episode because it was "slow". The subtle dialogue and character building information that is being portrayed. That is what separates this show from other zombie shows. It is very obvious what those who complain about "slow" episodes mean.

In an earlier episode Merle saw the welt/scars on Daryl's back and made mention that their Dad did that to him too. Meaning that he was abused as a child. Daryl placed the book int the bag and it fell out, revealing that he was wanting to earn about his childhood ordeal and how to deal with it. The entire episode was about dealing into the changes in Carole and Daryl.

Other zombie shows? You mean the 1 other show that just came out this year and was obviously a generic TWD from the beginning?

And I don't think you could get more ironic with what you posted.

I thought it made more sense to be Daryl's but it looked like Carol dropped it then he handed it to her.

It's hard to see Beth being the hero, but I can't help but see anyone but her kill Dawn. Maybe Noah. The next few episodes should be very interesting.

This is another one of those "kill or be killed" scenarios. I think Beth hates being perceived as weak and has a point to make. She is also going to get punished for attempting to run away. With Carol's help I think she will pull it off. At first I thought Carol was going to plant herself but then she got ran over. There goes that. lol

I thought it was damn fine episode. It really took time to allow the characters and the viewers to see how much the characters have grown. It isn't all about shoot'em up and zombies eating people each week.

Scot Gimple has done a lot to develop a lot of depth within the characters since he took over the series.

i just didn't think the episode really went much of anywhere. i get it, they both have changed. they said that 3-4 times throughout. i don't have to see nonstop action. there were plenty of zombies in this episode. seemed just overall slow developing to me.

I thought this episode was decent, not great but not bad either.

With that said… The whole if you didn't like an episode it's automatically because there wasn't enough exploding zombie heads argument is definitely getting old.

Comparing TWD to ZNation is hilarious. It's on Syfy who is pretty well known for putting B level stuff on TV. I think you are wrong about why people thought it was slow. There were plenty of Zombies and zombie killing in this episode, so that argument doesn't hold water here. Actually it never really does, I don't think the group that posts in here is that zombie hungry. They want a good story at a decent pace. IMO

The other aspect of this episode not being mentioned is that there was very little dialogue overall between Carol and Daryl so that just added to the perception that it was a "slower than usual" episode.

and for the record, even though i wasn't a huge fan of the last episode, it was better than 99% of anything else on tv right now with ease.

I think knowing the outcome to some degree made it seem slow too.

I didn't really feel that way but I can see how others felt.

I think you're absolutely right. When it came on I already knew the episode would end with carol being taken. Just frustrating because I really want to see what happens next. I guess that means they're doing something right.

Nah...it's fine. If I can suspend my disbelief for the anti-science of the living dead, I can accept that the laws of physics can be bent in this world, as well.

It's not just the fact that it defied physics, it was also very poorly shot. Plus if you're going to ignore physics, why not just have them jump off the bridge? That whole falling to your death thing isn't a big deal apparently.

I don't think the van falling scene was necessary at all. Just have them bust out of the back of the van and run around the small zombie group.

Especially since they did the interior shot where it was going forward toward the ground then cut to the upright landing.

Was 2 good sized Walker groups from either side of the bridge. Too many for the 2 to fight.
I am more upset that they let themselves get caught like that. I took the van falling and Walker Lemmings as comic relief. I did actually laugh out loud when it started raining Walkers:)
