I agree somewhat.
The problem with Dawn is they never really established her as good or bad. In one scene she would slap Beth for no reason then the next give a sob story about trying to keep the cogs churning.

I hope this does not suck.
I liked this actress in Deadwood
comments below that story are bizarre. How can this "dilute" the WD story? 4 years after the ZA and Rick and the gang are still within a day's drive of Atlanta.

I don't know that it would dilute the main series story but it could over saturate the the ZA entertainment market.
People already whine when there are 2-3 of 8 slow episodes.

Eh, fans are fans. At one point the Star Trek franchise was running The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager simultaneously. And that's not even counting the movies released (OS and TNG) over that span.
Pretty sure TNG was over before Voyager started but to your point, oversaturation did eventually hurt the Trek franchise.
Although it was risky for Paramount to start new shows not featuring a crew on an Enterprise. To my recollection DS9 struggled to find a solid audience until Warf joined the cast.
You might be right but there certainly wasn't much of a gap if that was the case. At any rate the point was if you have a fan base as long as you're telling a story those fans want to see they can soak up a lot of stories.
Perhaps a better example, since it's actually still going on as we speak, would be the NCIS franchise. Three shows, all loosely entwined, running at the same time.
CSI was like that, when the original, Miami, and New York were all on at the same time. Now they have a 4th starting, CSI Cyber.
I can't believe the original is still on and has outlived the 2 previous spinoffs; though with the major cast changes it has made it a bit different.
The NCIS franchise is ridiculous. I've often wondered how it sustains so many shows of the same exact concept
