The Walking Dead

I disagree that this has been a bad season. In fact I think it's been one of the better ones. Think about how dull season 2 was from the minute they got on the farm until Sophia came out of that barn. Or seadon 3 from the meandering around Woodbury until the raid on the town by Team Grimes. Then the flu epidemic of Season 4. Now tell me how this season stacks up?

As for mid season finales I do agree this was one of the slower ones. With only 10 minutes to go I thought to myself that nothing had happened. The ending had a nice payoff that actually made me say "Oh ****!" out loud. I never thought I would say I was sad to see Beth go but I really am. Even though her episodes are kind of boring she was still growing on me. I hate that it was such a pointless death too. I mean she didn't even land a fatal blow. She just stabbed Dawn in the shoulder.

As for Rick being more villainous so to speak, I think he feels he has let things get out of control by trying to take the diplomatic approach in the past. He still wants to do the right thing but when he gets pushed he doesn't want a soft reaction to come back to haunt them like it did with the governor and even the Terminus group.

It's funny you should bring this very thing up. Last night I was thinking to myself, which season has really been better from an entertainment standpoint, this one or the farm? I'm really almost leaning towards the farm and I'll explain why. There were probably less than half as many characters on the show then than there are now. The core group from season one was still together(for the most part) and you were slowly learning things about them. You still had Shane which added a completely different dimension to the show other than just zombies or the lack there of(don't misunderstand me though, I'm not saying Shane should still be on the show by any means). You still had the old Glenn that we all liked much better than today's Glenn and then the show also highlighted Maggie who is hot and who doesn't want to hit that? The whole flirting thing, the sex in the drugstore. While that season might have been slow zombie wise it still had the original feel and maintained it's original quality. The writing for the show feels completely different now than it was in the first 3 I'd even say 4 seasons, imo.

Let me get to this season. This season started off with an epic bang and then quickly fizzled out. The Dawn character was lame, the hospital was lame and so was everyone in it. Gabrielle is and has been even more boring than Dawn or anyone at the hospital. I could give two craps about him or his struggles. The whole "groups splitting up thing" was dumb and ultimately the whole DC thing was a complete waste of time. Only one good episode came out of that and it was the firehouse zombie killings and the self help section episode. The whole van thing was just damn insulting. Having the worst character/villain/non-villain thus far in the series kill off Beth was insulting, not to mention how they killed off Beth.

POO POO season! :thud:

Sooo you are saying it has to be shoot em up zombie killing to be good? Get him Tux. Lol

I do agree with what you said though.

Well, Kirkman said on Talking Dead something along the lines of the show will be different going forward or new things or something like that. Didn't really catch it all.

Did anyone else read or hear that they were supposed to be hundreds of Walkers in the midseason finale he?

I am impressed with how fast Rick could run. Would not have expected that. He had sprinter speed even in cowboy boots. I do like the fact that the red handled machete has become part of his weaponry/image.

LOL he says that every year.

I still like the show but man they need to move it forward. They spend way too long on plots that should be resolved in at least half of the time.

When you really think about it, in 8 episodes they have wrapped up Terminus, DC, and the disappearance of Beth. That's ligh speed when you consider past seasons.

I get that Dawn was a boring villain. She only appeared in 3 of the 8 episodes? Not exactly a show killer IMO.

For those that felt the split group was bad I'm guessing you were not fans of LOST. No show ever exceled at non linear story telling like that one.

so are they just going to walk around now lol? I'm still confused as to what will be next. Any comic readers have any clues that will happen next? I know this series doesn't strictly follow the comics.

Noah came from a "safe walled town" that sounds like the comic's Alexandria Safe Zone. He and his Dad were searching for his uncle. Since Noah survived, I bet they try to head that way.

I think Morgan is his uncle...that may be the plot twist to re-incorporate him into the storyline.

I had my complaints with the first half of the season but I couldn't agree more with this point, the season on the farm had absolutely nothing happen and Woodbury wasn't much better.

My biggest complaint about Dawn was that they never allowed her to let her hair down a little.

Question, in season 1 we saw the group who were protecting the elderly community in Atlanta. I wonder if we will see them again with the group in/near Atlanta. Or, have they all died off? Thoughts?

Makes a lot of sense.

Probably will get to Alexandria by the end of the season, and next season they will eventually introduce Neegan.

I was a Lost fan up until I realized they had no idea where to go with the story :)

I do agree partly with you, but the Beth storyline was so boring that it felt like it dragged on.

I don't think the first half was bad, just uneven.

Is anyone else getting a feeling that The Talking Dead is wearing a bit thin?

I mean I guess I like it but sometimes the fanboy setup gets annoying. For example spending several minutes overanalyzing Dawn and all that while the majority of the fanbase thinks Dawn sucks and is pretty uninteresting.

I like this season. Fast moving is the way to go. Cycle through characters. The only part I don't like is that at this pace, they should be getting out of Atlanta. I like the urban post-apocalypse feel.

Also, I like less-forgiving Rick.

This is my theory as well. I almost like to think they already introduced Negan to the viewers. He being the guy that locked all the Terminus people in their own railcars and responds to Gabriel's "everything will be ok" with a "No it won't".

It depends who is on it for me, that being said they need Conan on it as much as possible. He did a great job with comic relief from the fanboy babble without killing the discussion. To be fair they haven't had a lot to analyze lately.

That guy was bitten by the walkers at the end of that episode.

In one of the deleted scenes from season one they head back there and they are were killed.

It depends on the guests. The guy from Key & Peele this past week was funny. Kirkman/Gimple are usually entertaining. Chris Jericho should be on every week.

It's partly relative to how well the episode went before it and who is on it.

Kirkman was boring and dry last episode and Emily Kinny was just a mess but you can't blame her after what they did to her character.

Cute adorable mess...we'll see her again in this business.

I think that's my biggest gripe, even when there isn't a lot to analyze, they'll spend the whole hour analyzing things that don't warrant it.

I mean I get they kind of have to based on the setup, but for instance spending an hour discussing Dawn's motivation and Beth's thoughts and blah blah blah. You might as well be analyzing an episode of 2 Broke Girls on some of these episodes. There just isn't much there.
