The Walking Dead

Is anyone else getting a feeling that The Talking Dead is wearing a bit thin?

I mean I guess I like it but sometimes the fanboy setup gets annoying. For example spending several minutes overanalyzing Dawn and all that while the majority of the fanbase thinks Dawn sucks and is pretty uninteresting.

I've been saying for a really long time now that it was considerably better when it was only 30 minutes. Now that it's an hour, they're basically giving you the exact same information just stretching it out over twice the time. I, for the most part, just fast forward to the end and watch the sneak preview of next weeks episode. I used to religiously watch the whole thing back when it was only 30 minutes.

Yep. Go back to 30 min. Cut out the stupid trivia crap, the fan poll questions, bringing someone up from the audience, saluting the killed walkers.

It really does depend on who their guest is. Some have fun with it, but the ones that are dry make it not worth watching.

Cute adorable mess...we'll see her again in this business.

I felt so bad for her, she almost made me cry. :cray:

I think that's my biggest gripe, even when there isn't a lot to analyze, they'll spend the whole hour analyzing things that don't warrant it.

I mean I get they kind of have to based on the setup, but for instance spending an hour discussing Dawn's motivation and Beth's thoughts and blah blah blah. You might as well be analyzing an episode of 2 Broke Girls on some of these episodes. There just isn't much there.

The show has been so lacking in deep thought that there was nothing to talk about.

Anybody know what Key said that they bleeped out of that episode?

As he was kiting all those walkers back to the church, I was hoping Gabrielle would get served some poetic justice by being denied entry into the church and eaten alive by that walker mob.

Now they have two wusses in that are scared to kill walkers in the group. Eugene and Gabriel.

Some one will get killed because of those two.

My gosh this season has been so bad. Why the hell would Rick let Gabrielle in his group?!

Eugene > Gabriel

Eugene is at least witty and can serve a purpose with the randomn knowledge he posseses. Gabriel is a full liability, he will either get someone killed or descend down a dark path turning into the next "bad guy." I hope he doesn't make it through the next half of the season.

I could see this. He has potential at least.

Mostly because it happened in the comics.

And I wouldn't say the season has been "bad", just very uneven. There's only been one terrible episode IMHO.

Well, sometimes it's REALLY ok to deviate from the comics.

True, in the comics Carol has long been dead and so has Tyreese.

I'm behind a few issues but honestly I can't remember Gabriel doing a whole lot in the comics either. Eugene does eventually become pretty useful.

All I know is, they better get Neegan right. They'll have to censor him...well a lot, but still. He makes The Governor look like a reasonable guy.

I love this show, but in my opinion, this season, they have cluttered the landscape with too many characters.

TWD is Rick Grimes' story. It needs to focus on him and the relationships of those around him. I hope that Carl is an untouchable like Rick. The show could evolve to the the Carl Grimes story in time. Judith is merely a proper in the shows. However, killing off a baby is not going to happen.

There also some key characters that I want to see make it to the end with the Grimes family. I think Daryl and Michonne need to be standing until the end. Both characters have evolved into strong and important characters in the show. Both of them bring a bit of depth top the show, other than being walker killers.

The Glen and Maggie love story is losing it's luster. I always had trouble believing it in the first place. Maggie has lost her entire family now. One of the two or both could bite the dust to create a new angle. Either one alone would bring about a new direction in other character, that could be good for the show.

Carol's story has been told. She has come full circle from being an abused housewife to becoming a strong survivor. I'm not sure that you do much more with her character development in the show. She and Maggie have become the same type character sans the love interests.

Tyrese and Sasha's characters drive me crazy. Why are they even there? Put star trek red shirts on them and let them stay down on the planet, while the rest of the away team beam back aboard the Enterprise. Neither brings much of anything to the show. Sasha has become the village idiot in season 5. Tyrese might as well wear a dress. He has become the new "Dale"-the moral compass of team Grimes.

Abraham's character offers another bad as with leadership quality. He also has some range of emotional baggage going on. He is going to be on the show for another season or two at the least. He had Rick are going to be a team that hard to beat. His love interest, Rosita has not been developed deeply and could either be walker folder or could develop into a character similar to Maggie. Eugene, no longer serves and overt purpose on the show, He could end up providing the writers with a new direction if they can breathe some new life into his character.

Father Gabriel is dead weight. He could potentially serve as a moral compass but right now his character is not one anyone could trust for strength and guidance,

Morgan.... I don't think I have any idea how Morgan is going to come into play.

If you don't like the show get the hell out. Lol

Seriously nice to see you actually critique it for once, instead of yelling at us for it. :) I agree with you on pretty much every point, especially Glenn and Maggie. I like Maggie but she's really killed what a good character Glenn was. Obviously I'm going to say I want Carol to make it, but I do see your point.

Carol has become a bad omen for the younger survivors....Judith and Carl are the only survivors of any prolonged time with Carol:)

Her daughter, the prison kids, now Beth...

Carol is still a huge asset to the group, she goes nowhere.

Do we really know if Tyreese has really committed to the non-violent way of life?

Gabrielle needs to just die already.

The show is using Morgan as nothing more than a big tease. They dangle him in front of us at the beginning and then the end.

I was not saying Carol needs to go...just do not let the younger characters anywhere near her :)

Hopefully something will bring Tyrese back to the violent side that is more fun...if not as a moral compass, he is doomed per the shows history.

Gabriel will likely get someone killed before he goes. He will likely last through most of season 5 just to piss us off. Would trade Beth for him in a heartbeat. At the hospital, when Dawn wanted Noah, I would have given them Gabriel. I know he wasn't there, but if I am writing...win/win situation

I think Morgan will be part of the second half of the season. Still think Noah is his nephew.

I don't think it was the fact that Beth died that everyone is pissed about, it's how bad the first half of the season sucked coupled with HOW they killed Beth and who it was that did it. Beth stabs Dawn in the shoulder and Dawn shoots her through the head and then looks at Rick like "no, it was an accident, I didn't mean to".

I think you are spot on. If a better character kills Beth there wouldn't be as much of an uproar. Everyone was sad when the Governor kills Hershel but that is the kind of character that can kill people off and keep it feeling believable
