The Walking Dead

I knew Carol was going to get caught by somebody in that pantry/armory room. I think the whole town has a strange creepiness about it. All the residents pretending like they're happy and normal when they're clearly not. It might just be me but I'm feeling like everyone in the town is keeping a collective eye Rick's group. Was that kid really hoping Carol would crap out cookies on her way to steal some guns? If Carol is trying to stay low key why is she meeting with Rick outside the wall and taking a handgun with her to do it? The same hand guns she pretended to tell that guy she knows little about.

I have this feeling there are hidden cameras set up all over this town too hooked to a monitoring station tucked away in someone's basement.

"Bring your kids in for a check up to the drunk, jealous, creepy doctor."

The place is a bit surreal, somehow reminiscent of the stepford wives.

I feel the urge to point out after watching so many apocalyptic shows that nuclear plants might cause serious issues for people trying to survive around them. Would it kill them? Maybe, maybe not. But I would be interested in staying away from them. On their path to DC, they probably went through quite a few of them.

They sure do seem to be tossing out hints that Rick might let his dark side come out a little on the Alexandria folks.

Telling Carol and Daryl that they'll try to make it work but if Alexandria folks can't make it then they'll just take the place. Doesn't overtly mean they'll take over. Could mean if the other folks can't carry their weight in the event of walker breach then Rick will take control.

But his kiss on Jesse wasn't a friend kiss. What's her name that plays Jesse confirmed it on Talking Dead. Said Jesse might be interested back.

Then reaching for his pistol when Jesse and her husband walk by on the street? And his moment with the walker at the wall.

It's obvious he feels Alexandria is weak and naive. I wonder if he's battling the urge to take things for himself. Or maybe some of his "outside" survival instincts that are hard to overcome.

She was clearly interested. The way she smiled back at him after the kiss then the overly friendly hello the next morning. It was clear that her and her husband have a strained relationship too. First the little tiff over getting a drink at the party then he was hesitant to put his arm around her while walking.

Rick is getting a little more Shane in him every season.

Well I guess I'll have to ask a dumb question. What exactly was their plan? The beginning of the episode they were talking about it and planning and then at the end when they met up? What were they supposed to do?

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. I'm not sure an answer has been clearly made in the show.

I'm guessing Rick/Carol/Daryl were going to smuggle weapons for themselves at least in case something turns sour at Alexandria.

I think they're just making contingency plans in case Alexandria wants to kick them out or if it turns out to be something it's not (like the Gov at Woodbury or Terminus). Their attempts at integrating into a "civilized" group haven't gone well so far.

It was the episode before I think when Rick/Carol/Daryl met outside the wall, Rick said he wanted to leave the others out because he wanted them to give Alexandria a chance. This episode we see Rick and Carol planning a way to get to the weapons cache. Carol uses the party to grab a few handguns and threatens the kid that catches her. Then Daryl decides he wants to give the place a chance and passes on taking a gun back in with him.

Makes sense. I just got a strange impression that maybe they were making plans of if they had to take it over, but then all decided they wanted to give it a chance.

It's merely a backup plan. Like Rick had the idea to hide the weapons in the woods outside Terminus. He tried the something similar before entering Alexandria but the gun was taken. This is just a plan to arm themselves in case things go awry.

Is Carol an untouchable character now? Her role in the leadership of the group and fan approval rating has to be at a high right now.

Yeah, exactly. I thought it was explained pretty well in the show, but I could see how you could be confused.

I believe she's taken Andrea's spot in the comics, minus the Rick romance. So I'd say she's pretty safe for a good while.

It's nice that they take different turns from the comics. Carol's character was already quite different from the comics but her character on the show has developed more than any other on the show. I wanted her gone when she was having a pity party in season 2. She was worthless. Then we see her learning to shoot straight in S3 opener to teaching kids to use weapons in S4 opener then single handedly taking down Terminus in the S5 opener.

As for love interests, Rick going after another man's wife is interesting direction for his character. He will probably justify it by telling himself that her husband doesn't have what it takes to protect her and the kids. Same thing Shane was saying about him.

No one's safe except Rick and Carl.

I get that but at the same time there are mega fan favorites like Daryl and Michone who are unlikely to get killed any time in the foreseeable future. I'm wondering if Carol us in that status now.

Never thought of it like that. The parallels between Rick and Shane are interesting.

I would say she's most definitely an untouchable. Technically speaking she's been "kicked off" the show and came back. Being an original group member doesn't hurt her chances either.

Not counting Morgan there are only 5 originals left now, Rick, Carl, Glenn, Carol, and Daryl.

I heard Daryl may or may not like fish sticks with his spaghetti... :D
