The Walking Dead

"The rule is WHATEVER it is that causes the zombies, is something everyone already has. If you stub your toe, get an infection and die, you turn into a zombie, UNLESS your brain is damaged. If someone shoots you in the head and you die, you're dead. A zombie bite kills you because of infection, or blood loss, not because of the zombie "virus.""
—Robert Kirkman

Sounds like he hadn't fully thought it out himself. If it was just infection then antibiotics could prevent it. All we've ever seen is someone gets bit, they get a fever, die, and wake up a zombie.

Early in the series they were saying a scratch would turn you. I've dismissed that as errant speculation by the characters. They get in too many close quarter tussles with walkers to never get scratched. In the 2nd (?) episode they acted like getting the guys on their skin would turn them. Obviously that's not the case.

I'll have to find the quote, but somebody called me a creepy doctor, sooooo
I thought what the heck, why not?

And here we are :)
LOL

I think it was Jerry which would be ironic coming from him. :)

I kind of feel the same about the explanation honestly. He says one thing but something else plays out on screen imo. Can anyone think of a zombie bite in the past that wasn't completely gnarly though? Like a minor bite?

Bob's bite looked like teeth marks with very little tearing...Agreed, he also was not showing any signs of being sick at all. May need to rewatch that episode.

Not at first but he did get the fever before dieing.

And why did the Terminites freak out about being it tainted meat? Granted they had no real way of knowing if that was a problem or not.

He still didn't have antibiotics though either.

I think it's just that it's a big unknown as to what happens if you eat tainted meat. At the same time though I don't think they stayed alive long enough for us to know whether or not it was going to affect them.

They should run into a group that has survived bites with antibiotics.

"Oh yeah I've been bitten 2-3 times. Just take some Tylenol to keep the fever down and you'll be fine"

Then they can reflect on all people they could have saved.

Still waiting to see who is immune to the virus

I've long believed it's probably Baby Judith. More accurately I think it's anyone born of infected parents and inherits a genetic immunity in utero.

The above allows the narrative to be the "infection" is a reboot or "turn over" for the human population...assuming those left alive can breed and keep the young alive long enough while the dead rot away.

EPIC idea !!!!

There are some pictures on the internet floating around supposedly taken on set that hints to what happens to a certain character

It's of Carl wearing bandages over his right eye; if true they are following the comic where Carl loses his right eye in Alexandria. I doubt it's as graphic as the comic though, because in the comic a whole chunk of his face and head is blown off.

Season premiere tonight...
Any important character die?

I say no. Maybe a few Alexandrians or a minor character. I say that in episode 1 Carl, Rick, Carol, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Abe, Eugene, Tara, Morgan, Gabriel, and Sasha are off limits. The reason I say this is that season premiers on this show have little main character death. No main ones in season 2, 3, 4, or 5. Just some minor characters die.

That won't be for the whole season IMO. I think one of the originals (Daryl, Carol, Glenn, or Maggie) die [excluding Rick and Carl for obvious reasons].
