How that entire scene was shot was just poor. Nicholas put the gun to his right temple, so the exit would have (most likely) been on the opposite side, though not necessarily directly across and out the left temple. Regardless, Glenn got blood splatter on the right side of his face, meaning that he'd have to have been on Nicholas' left, or at least looking at the left side of Nicholas' head, either of which go against how they framed each of their facial expressions just prior to the trigger pull. And I'm not even getting into how unnatural their fall off of the dumpster looked.
Not everyone in the zombie Apocalypse is going to die a heroic death. If they don't have actual characters that matter die to the odd zombies here or there, nor hoards, then we as the audience is aren't going to view them as a threat either. With the way everyone is a master marksmen, executing headshot after headshot, walkers seem more like a pest than a real threat. And I get it. They've become good at dealing with them. They have experience dealing with them however it just takes one time to slip up. I know a lot of people will say it was a bad death because he wasn't doing anything heroic but its an important death. It shows zombies are still a threat and not to be overlooked.
The second walker had a machete in his shoulder, when Rick shoved him he cut his hand on it.
and after rewatching the clip, he HAS to be dead. the dude is literally crying out in agony.
That would make sense if the show had a history of doing this; as I said just last season they gave Tyreese and Bob basically their own death episodes. Heck they even gave Noah more of a death episode than that. I seriously doubt they're going to start with a character like Glenn and give him the equivalent of a death of a red shirt.
They're not finished with him yet. On Talking Dead they had a quote from Scott Gimple that said we'll see Glenn, or some form of him, again. Left it up in the open as to what that means though. Could be they'll show more of him being buried in walkers. Maybe walker Glenn. Or flashbacks. I guess that doesn't rule out some cheesy "He survived scenario" either.
I've made it a point to stay away from spoiler forums, but the idea that the scene is a hallucination would be terrible if true. Damon Lindelof on Talking Dead said the same last night. He would be disappointed if it turned out to be a dream or hallucination similar to "Who killed Bobby" on Dallas.

To me, he seems to be more crying out because of what he's watching than what's happening. His agony seems a bit tame for someone getting ripped open.
Also, the last time I checked, there are no intestines in your chest.
Kirkman said he always regretted that part in the comics. So I doubt that's where we are headed but could happen. I also don't see any way he didn't get zombie blood in that wound. But I'm sure TV magic will prevail and somehow not even one blood cell was transferred in a bloody knife battle

Lindelof was pretty good last night and was brutally honest on some things, like when he talked about how nobody cared about the dumb Alexandrians who died and was saying he didn't even remember their names. Kind of surprised he got away with it and I wonder if he'll be asked back.
I think it'd be more likely that Nicholas is hallucinating than Glen. He looked out of it anyway.
