The only complaint I had about this episode was the scene where Denise finished her dramatic sentence after getting shot by Dwight with a crossbow. After an arrow goes through your brain, I'm pretty sure it instantly kills all your senses including your ability to speak. Just seemed cheesy and unecessary.

Comics have no effect on this show. Andrew Lincoln stated that the final script made him physically ill. I think it's genuine as opposed to Norman Reedus false hype last year. Very limited number of characters would cause that reaction IMO. Maggie by herself wouldn't. Maggie with a baby in her belly?
Eugene and Abraham's dialogue is great. "I apologize. You know how to bite a dick Eugene" might be my favorite line ever. Lol

I think I also hate the Abe death in the comics also because he was one of my favorite characters along with Glenn. (Rough couple issues, haha!) But like, with Glenn I wasn't too upset because it really had a purpose, and managed to be the biggest shock in the comic book still to this day imo. I just felt like Abes was a forgetful, shock value mess. But enough on that.
But I don't know, its a mixed bag. Ultimately I just think it comes down to how well it is down, and if it furthers the story in a good way. And, if two major deaths happen at Negans hand, that would be great shock value that would further the story in a great way. It would instantly make people just hate Negan, and it also makes sense story wise. How many of his men have been killed by Rick and co? A lot. To only kill one person for 30ish? Doesn't really make sense.
The writing devices for creating conflict between characters are getting more and more sloppy. The Eugene/Abraham rift was so unbelievably childish.
yeah, but i found it pretty surprising and in the grand scale of things, i guess it makes some sense. was 50/50 on whether they would do the whole switcheroo thing regarding that fate, but seeing him and eugene go out, i was leaning toward him getting the arrow. so it was still pretty surprising.
poor denise, not gonna get that pibb after all she went through.
and it's kinda funny to think that just a few episodes ago, she was fixing Carl's right eye, and now gets an arrow through hers.
maybe they'll kill off two people. if they do that, i can see Abraham getting capped this season.otherwise, i think he's safe til next season.
Denise was becoming a great character, premature death imo. And possibly the worst death the group could have as she was the only doctor.

Whoa whoa, while the show does differ a lot at times, the comics still very much have an effect on the show. Especially with the current showrunner. He keeps things very close. And also they aren't going to beat a preggo chcik to death on the show imo. They got scared to kill off Judith, so it'll probably be the same here.Comics have no effect on this show. sorry, completely missed this. i actually went back last week and did a comparison of the number of Saviors killed in the show vs the comic. Funny enough, they have killed roughly around triple the amount of Saviors in the show over the amount in the comics. Show wise, I estimate about 40 (about 37 before last night, but i can't remember how many were killed last night...possibly pushes the number above 40), comics, it's around 13 or 14. definitely gives way more incentive to kill more than 1 main character.
I have to disagree with this popular thought that Negan HAS to kill someone major to cause the audience to hate him. This show does just fine imo with creating and portraying villains. They put very little effort into Dwight's villain character and even though he only killed lowly Denise you still hate the hell out of that guy.

Most of this episode definitely like filler. Denise was growing on me. Not in a indispensable way but I was liking her the last few episodes she's been in so her sudden death definitely came as a shock to me.
As someone who hasn't read the Negan story but is well aware of who and how he kills a main character in the comics, short of it being some nobody like Carol's boy friend, I really don't care who he kills on the show. It won't make me like or dislike his portrayal on the show either way.
one of, if not "the," worst thing this show could do, would be to bring in Negan in the finale, and have him kill off some Alexandrian.
He HAS to kill off a major character (particularly one of the originals from S1, including Maggie as well). It doesn't necessarily have to do with causing the audience to hate him neither. it's one of the biggest shocks/moments in the entire comic. it's what helped made Negan as infamous and popular as he became. it would be such a disservice to that moment and the character of Negan, if they went a different route.
and while i think Denise was alright, i still couldn't really give much of a **** about her dying. i'm honestly more sad for how Tara is going to be when she (if she) finds out.
