The Walking Dead

Lol, I know I'll take heat but the show just isn't that good IMO like it used to be

I whole heartedly disagree. I get being annoyed by the Glenn fake out, the 90 minute Morgan episode (which was a solid episode IMO) and the finale cliffhanger etc. Go back and compare it to the meandering of season 2-3 and honestly tell me how it's gotten so much worse.

Don't think you'll have to worry about anymore "Glenn fake out deaths". He's Lucille meat.

After Shane died it has went downhill with the exception of the Gov. The wondering in the woods departed before the cannibals was boring. The entire Alexandria sending half was laughable and a snooze fest. Dragging out Negan for an entire season was a joke

At comic con they are acting like it's the best thing in the world. All the focus of their exhibit and their promos is on that cliffhanger...was it really that poorly received or are VN twd fans a different breed than most?

Who was acting like it was the best thing ever?

It was definitely poorly received by a large portion of the fanbase, enough that Gimple and Kirkman had to address it several times.

I think there was a vocal group on the internet that dominated the conversation.

My friends that are more casual viewers, ie the kind that don't go to Twitter/FB/message boards to discuss TV shows, werent really bothered by it.

I think some people are just bored with the concept in general or expect way too much from it.

I don't plan to watch the season. There are better thing on this fall Sunday nights. I don't hate the show its just lost its grit and the writing has gone to garbage. The cliffhanger gimmick was the last straw in the end of the worst season up to date. I'll follow the thread here and there but the show doesn't hold my interest. I'm hoping Quarry on Cinemax is a solid show because I'm looking for something

I never have figured out why so many people have had a problem with the season ending like it did.

Name one television drama series that hasn't ended a season or two in a cliffhanger?

Yes, Its a gimmick but it's done to draw viewers back for the new season. Shows have been doing it for decades and likely won't stop anytime soon.

For some reason people hold this show to a higher standard than other shows. That it should be above gimmicks. Not sure why but they do.

I never had a problem with it.

It just put it on the same level as Dallas for me. And I'm not the only one with this opinion. There are Plenty of blogs and fan pages that agree. The pace is also what got to me. Too slow, move the story along.

It's already been said to death but here goes again.

You're assuming all cliffhangers are created equal. It's not that it ended on a cliffhanger, it's that it ended on a BAD cliffhanger. You and others merely equating it to using a gimmick are missing the point.

Better Call Saul had a cliffhanger at the end of Season 2, and it was done very well. Game of Thrones Season 5 had a cliffhanger, and it was done well. So it's NOT just because it was a cliffhanger.

Also you have to factor in a good portion of the fanbase are fans of the comic, and the Negan introduction/Lucille scene is one of if not the most iconic scenes of the comic, and many fans felt like it was crapped on for the sake of a gimmick.

I guess the marketing department or whomever is in charge of the Comic-Con booth.

I think the difference lies in the fact the TWD isn't good television but AMC masquerades it as the greatest TV show of all time.

The worst season of TWD is when they are on the farm looking for Sophia.

With the Glenn death fake out and the subsequent "how could he have possibly survived" scenes it would be really dumb to bash his head in at this point. It would negate the whole point of the cliffhanger as well since by now everyone knows it's "supposed" to be Glenn in the comics. Everyone is expecting it to be Glenn so the smart play is to bash in Abraham's head, leave Glenn alive, and leave it at that.

i don't think most people expect glenn to die because it was in the comic book. everyone expects glenn to live to keep the cliffhanger going.

if glenn were to die, it would be a big suprise.

How many of the 18.4 million viewers do y'all think get on the Internet to discuss the show?

Also Glenn's death impacts the whole group and sets up Maggie to become the leader of the Hill Top. IMO he needs to die to keep the comic book story going. Also those near death experiences he's had was a foreshadow of his real death. Everyone expects Glenn to survive through the Lucille moment but finally his luck runs out and gets his head bashed in by Negan. If they want to add more shock value, have Negan kill another character that no one was expecting to die.
