My only real complaint is making the walkers nothing more than an annoyance.
I'm an old school George Romero guy.
I appreciate the human danger element but a zombie show (why I tuned in to start) where the zombies are only a minor distraction, seems somewhat...
It's a natural evolution for the show. Every episode can't be about bashing in skulls of zombies. That will get stale quick. And the zombies aren't a good foil. They don't talk, or set up traps, or have any sort of goals. They just exist and have to be dealt with. The story lines have to come from living people's interactions with other living people. And that's probably one of the overarching themes of post apocalyptic writing. No matter how horrific the apocalyptic event is, it pales in comparison to how terrible human beings will end up being towards other human beings. The real fear is not the zombies, it's those that survived.
According to the Spoiling Dead, it's actually Abraham that gets Lucilled first after the "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe" thing. Daryl tries to interfere while Negan is bashing Abraham's skull in that causes a fight to break out between the group and the saviors. Negan then kills Glenn for punishment after Daryl tried interfering with Negan's big moment. This leads Maggie into leaving Rick's group and take charge of the Hilltop and Daryl being taken prisoner by the saviors. Basically the writers are getting away from the comics to add suspense then by killing Glenn, they can go back to the orginal comic book death to keep the orginal story going. Don't know accurate it is but the way The Walking Dead is written, it wouldn't surprise me if they did this.
If that's what happens, the part about how/why Glenn is killed, then that sounds incredibly stupid. Daryl is already treated like some kind of god by the writers and fanbase even though he's been pretty useless as a character for a while now, but to turn around and have him intervene and then someone else killed is just silly.
Also, Negan clearly said to cut out Carl's other eye and feed it to Rick if anyone moved, so I guess Negan has a very short memory.
Wouldn't lazy writing be going strictly by the comic?
I honestly don't think there is a winning scenario for some you. It doesn't seem to matter who dies you won't be satisfied.
Just watched the Season 7 trailer and I don't understand why Negan still has a beard? I know it's minor and doesn't make an difference in the story, but it just doesn't seem to fit his character considering the comic book Negan was clean shaven.
For one, that's simply not true. I've already said who would be "satisfactory".
And second, I could say that you're simply not going to criticize their writing no matter how bad it is, and shrug it off as "meh, it's just a show".
You're acting like everyone who doesn't like this hasn't given detailed reasoning as to why it's bad. It's been pointed out in depth as to why if it was Glenn it was bad, and it's been pointed out in depth why if it's Abraham it's bad. It's not any of our faults their own writing backed themselves into a corner and some of us are simply pointing it out.
So it's the writers fault that you've set a standard of which characters should or should not die in this scene? Many on here have already decided the whole thing is lame unless... Idk... Rick or Carl die? Even then some would go "meh...lame".
FTR I have pointed out when I felt the show was lacking many times. I've also pointed out when I've pointed it out before too.
Well all you see in the trailer is from the Lucille scene isn't it?
Where are we in relation to the comic? 50%? 75%? How much more story is there? I'm guessing if they've met Negan and those Medieval Times guys there will be some battle between the two at the end of the season.
That version makes even more sense and Spoiling Dead are really good at predicting big moments.According to the Spoiling Dead, it's actually Abraham that gets Lucilled first after the "Eeny Meeny Miny Moe" thing. Daryl tries to interfere while Negan is bashing Abraham's skull in that causes a fight to break out between the group and the saviors. Don't know accurate it is but the way The Walking Dead is written, it wouldn't surprise me if they did this.
Two deaths would be a great reward for leaving us with that damn cliffhanger and it would cement Negan as the Alpha villain of the TV series just like the comics. I expect a major curveball come October that's going to make fans jaws drop.
No it's already been decided it's dumb and lazy writing. The internet has spoken.
