The Walking Dead

Some of what you are saying Volly, is what I meant earlier.
When you have a big show, you're going to have had fans like the guys talking here and character fans such as yourself.
Any decision will affect someone negatively. Kind of a tightrope act.
Some of the things I don't like either but I'll still take it over whatever AMC would replace it with.

I hated the dumpster dive as bad as anybody. I just don't get needing it to be a gutsy kill if it doesn't do anything to progress the storyline? Kill Michonne or Daryl says the writers have balls? I don't get that.

Daryl is the most popular character on the show, so yes it would take balls to kill him off, and Michonne to a lesser degree but she's still considered an "untouchable".

Why would killing off Daryl or Michonne advance the stroyline any less than anyone else?

Who are the untouchables? Rick, Carl, Daryl, Michonne, maybe Carol? 2 or 3 of those could be killed and it wouldn't hurt the show at all as they are furniture at this point. Sucks cause I used to like Daryl, but his character is all grunts and nods now. "Bad idea Rick" "We are doing doing it Daryl" grunts and nods...end scene lol

FWIW, Kirkman was interviewed a year ago and said his only untouchable was Carol....so that means she's probably dead

Remember when they used to kill of good characters like Shane? That didn't hurt the storyline at all and it made the series better. Some of it is show exhaustion as its run its course and now needs to move the story along and get to the point. It happened to Sapranos as well

What makes him the most popular?

Here's the meat of it. What exactly is the point?

Abraham is my favorite; just to play the contrarian card for all the Darryl lovers out there. Plus, Cudlitz was a boss in Band of Brothers...

I agree with this. I've been over Daryl for at least 2 seasons now. They dont give him a ton to do. Once or twice a season you get a good moment with him but that's about it. Otherwise he hasn't been pivotal to the story lately.

Who said anything about making sense, you asked why it would "take balls" to kill him off, and I think that's clearly been answered.

I guess I just don't get it. He's an interesting character that you feel something for. I don't get how offing him is anything more than a shock move.

I like Daryl and he's a great character but he's not even an orginal character from the comics. IMO, I see no reason to keep him around. I feel like his story has ran its course.

I think they messed up with Daryl because they shoved so much of his evolution into the first 3 seasons, he hasn't changed or grown in forever. Maybe the writers felt he was loved enough they could just focus on other characters. Personally I like characters with a good story that shapes and evolves them constantly. Its why Carol is my favorite character, and why Daryl used to be.
