I think they messed up with Daryl because they shoved so much of his evolution into the first 3 seasons, he hasn't changed or grown in forever. Maybe the writers felt he was loved enough they could just focus on other characters. Personally I like characters with a good story that shapes and evolves them constantly. Its why Carol is my favorite character, and why Daryl used to be.
Serious question above by the way.
I'm sure it's a generation, and probably a gender thing. The show for me has been about surviving the threat, who takes care of who, how do they manage living and surviving in the situation. I'm not interested in watching the kind of mean Negan represents if he kills somebody like Maggie or Carl. To me, that's just an evil that surpasses entertainment value.
I don't read comics, I only know what I've seen on the show, and I'm only attached to characters that are a result of me watching. Daryl and Michonne both represent something particular to me, and I don't want either one of them to go. (And it's not because he's "hot"- he isn't. But he represents a "protective nature" to me.)
This might not be what y'all are willing to talk about. If so, I get it. Again, the generation and gender thing.
Remember when they used to kill of good characters like Shane? That didn't hurt the storyline at all and it made the series better. Some of it is show exhaustion as its run its course and now needs to move the story along and get to the point. It happened to Sapranos as well
I'm done, and it isn't just because of the cliffhanger, honestly I expected nothing less and laughed pretty hard at it, for every good episode we get 3 or 4 snooze fests. Its not about being spoiled its about being entertained, and I no longer am. People go crazy with critique sometimes, but the fluffers are equally crazy with how critique of the show offends them so much. How many are you counting in this "one of the greatest shows of all time" claim? Because its not even top 20 all time.
This is some version of what I've been saying since the season finale. Like!
I see it differently actually. Kirkman has proven to kill off the annoying, most hated characters. Shane, Lori, and Andrea. He's also proven to kill off somewhat likable characters(TDogg, Tyrese, Dale). He's yet to kill off an actual beloved, original character. The most shocking kill to date for me was probably Herschel.
It seems like the demented want to kill off a main character in some horrible fashion for the shock and awe factor. Ok, that's fine. Let's say they do that. For what? To what end? You won the award for a shocking main character kill but it ends there. You just pissed off a bunch of people and now you no longer have that character to use again.
Ahh, didn't know that. Thanks.
Apparently I was wrong, Michonne has been spotted filming later episodes.
Maggie and Glenn were spotted filming a later episode as well but nobody knows what it dealt with. That's the only later episodes either has been involved with.
Abraham is for sure the only one that hasn't been spotted after episode 1.
It could be some sort of flashback scene for Glenn to be filming a scene with Maggie unless he's not the one that gets killed. All I know is "Spoiling The Dead" has said that Abraham gets Lucilled first cause he's the only one out of the whole group who could "Take it like a champ". Daryl then interferes and tries to tackle Negan. Dwight takes Daryl away which results in him taken prisoner at Negan's compound. There was also leaked photos of Norman Reedus in an prison jumpsuit so we know he isn't the one who got killed off. Then Negan Lucilles Glenn for punishment after being interrupted in his big moment in front of his saviors. It sounds like the writers wanted to get away from the comics then go right back to the original comic book storyline. Take it for what it's worth but it kind of makes sense if you think about it.
So there is yet another supposed "leak" of the first episode and now it's being said that Abe is gone but Glenn is not killed. Take it with a grain of salt like everything else.
I would say Shane was pretty popular but he was always meant to die. His sole purpose was to be the villain from within group. His strained friendship with Rick being integral to his story. That couldn't last forever. It had to come to a head.
I've said before I think the seasons would be better at 10-12 episodes instead of 16. But even when it feels decompressed those "filler" episodes are often laying planting seeds for future. The bonding episode of Daryl and Beth comes to mind. One of the worst episodes of the whole series IMO.... However, it was kinda necessary to set up his emotions when she dies. Otherwise viewers would have been like "why did Daryl care so much? He barely ever spoke to her." Same goes for the episode with him and Dwight in the woods.

Well thought out, supporting your opinion, exceptional post.
Makes it obvious all these guys are just beatching and moaning...
Thanks :hi:
So at least you just come out and admit that if someone likes the show and you agree with them, it's "well thought out" and if you don't agree, it's "beatching and moaning".
It's so funny how bias works, isn't it.
Anyway, now I know not to waste my time trying to discuss the show with you.
Damn dude you just now figuring that's how a few people are in here? How many times have we brought up something we didn't like about the show to be met with " its not about zombies" "it doesn't have to be shoot em up all the time" or "just stop watching the show" instead of actually getting engaged in conversation? Maybe there are other show threads that are like this one, but all the ones I've been in a negative comment usually causes a legit discussion. Here it just becomes something weirdly personal.
Yeah I know, I'm trying not to do exactly what he is, which is lump everyone he doesn't agree with into the same category.
I don't have any problem with a guy like burnt, who seems to simply disagree and will even concede when someone has a good point about something. That's actual discussion, but the rest.......

In a show about surviving in a post zombie apocalypse world it kind of kills some of the drama if you know there are protected characters that will always pull through.
Carol and Maggie got kidnapped! Oh no! Wait....it doesn't matter, we know they're not going to die anyway. So the only thing you get out of that is how will the other group die. It's just a bunch of built up fake drama when you already know how it will end.
They make it worse when a character cheats death in a chessy manner. Glenn laying on the ground in the woods after being shot with multiple walkers within arms reach. No explanation of how he survived. He just appears in a later scene. Then there's the "roll under the garbage can crap" in a sea of walkers with Glenn.
At some point it gets laughable in a show about surviving the zombie apocalypse.
I'm on the same page as you with the Glenn fake outs. It's old, it's tired, it's not even Glenn's fault, it's the writers. I wish they'd bring back the old witty, smartass Glenn. He was actually entertaining and had a personality back then.
The whole show should be a hopeless feeling and used to be that way. There really is no end for this style other than death.VSF, sorry if my jealous comment pissed you off. Your wording just sounded extreme to me. It was a tacky comment on my part.
Who is out there to help the good guys? Carol? Jesus? Morgan? And how long do you think they suffer at the hands of the bad guys? Is the whole next season going to be a hopeless feeling?
