The Walking Dead

That's kind of what I was speaking to before.
I saw an episode of Talking Dead where they admitted they quickly learned the difference between comic books and television.
That the majority of the fan base didn't want characters they have grown to love,to just die on a regular
basis.
Of course this will tick off a certain kind of fan, but it's usually the kind that also thinks phish is better than any comparative band around.
The reason being, other bands are successful, so they're just sellouts.

It's still better than 95% of the stuff on TV today. And that's for fans who skip commercials.

Ironically, the same people who b!^ch so much about this type of thing, (both bands on television), do their damnedest to be successful in their jobs.
Bunch of sellouts, doing what it takes to pay the bills and stuff. :)

You're generalizing what the criticism is, and in fact not even getting it right for many. It has nothing to do with the fact that it could be Glenn and/or Abe, it's how the show has been written up to that point that led to it.

I am generalizing, because in the end, it's all the same.

"You can make some of the people happy"

Take a good look around the internet.
It's not people who appreciate any good product, that are always so vocal.
Those who are vocal, always find something to complain about. It really makes no difference how the show was written, some were always going to be critical.

They're trying to walk the line between keeping characters basic to the comic and getting rid of others. While also, taking into account that the television audience gets more attached to those characters.
I don't think they're being lazy, I think they're just trying to pull off a really difficult balancing act.

Serious question, at what point do you accept it's possibly valid criticism and don't just blow it off as "you'll think it will suck no matter what?" and end the discussion.

It's like it's become this black or white/yes or no situation, like you either have to think the show is awesome or you think the show totally blow. You can think the show is still good and think the whole Lucille situation has been completely bungled. That's where I am, I think the show is still and can be good, but at the same time I'll continue to stand by my opinion that the Season 6 cliffhanger was a terrible decision and merely throwing 2 deaths in the beginning doesn't automatically make up for it.

I suppose after I actually watch it.

I never had a problem with the cliffhanger though. I've never completely understood the backlash either.

And by the same token, I can say it doesn't matter how the show was written, some are going to praise it no matter what. I highly disagree that the ones are always so vocal, evidence by those that blindly praise it are just as vocal, which is what I meant by it's turned into "it's awesome/it sucks" black and white issue.

And if you go back a page or so, you'll see I offered my critiques. I'm just not one who would go so far as to whine and complain to the point of not watching it.
Huge difference.

To save posts, I'm going to respond to Big Daddy also.
You posted two articles. The first one said the show isn't moving fast enough, the second one said it's not slowing down at all. As I pointed out, you just can't make people happy.

Those article are a lot of subjective opinion, and not a lot of actual data to back it up.

The ratings "slide" is pretty overblown since it's still the most watched show on cable by a long shot. Obviously there was going to be a ratings peak at some point and after 6 seasons, hardly any long running show will see an increase of viewers.

Neither am I.

My point is though that I'm not quitting watching the show, but I also don't think the cliffhanger was good, nor do I think the rumored victims sound very good at the moment. I will reserve final judgment until I see it.

That's fair.

"Fans on the internet" were being discussed.
There were several with the "I'm done" mantra.
The level of being spoiled in this country has just reached ridiculous proportions.
It has been one of the greatest shows to ever air but...
Handle any situation differently than some fans would have, and they take to media trying to get others to stop.
Just a bratty attitude so many of them have.

The ratings have been falling and that's a fact. I threw the other one out there as a subjective piece. It's an opinion piece just like this forum. Hell, I could find a million positive spins as well.

When you are still the #1 show on cable by a wiiiiiide margin there is only one direction to go.

Pretty much. I mean if the Season 7 premiere got a 4.0 or something, ok, then maybe there's a problem, but it will get at least a 13.0.

If a show is in danger of being cancelled because it "only" got a 13.0, then something is seriously wrong.

If you watch and don't have a problem with it, are you still going to say "Meh you'd have hated it no matter what"?

Not quite sure I understand the question. If the spoilers are accurate I already don't have a problem with it. Both of those characters are worthy of the cliffhanger. Aaron or Eugene would irritate me. I wouldn't call that "lazy" writing as much as "scared" writing.

But yes I do think there those that will hate it no matter what.

I'm asking is there any valid criticism that wouldn't make you automatically assume anyone who had issues with it isn't just a "you'd hate it no matter what" type fan.

Not sure at them moment. Let's revisit after the premier.

I'm done, and it isn't just because of the cliffhanger, honestly I expected nothing less and laughed pretty hard at it, for every good episode we get 3 or 4 snooze fests. Its not about being spoiled its about being entertained, and I no longer am. People go crazy with critique sometimes, but the fluffers are equally crazy with how critique of the show offends them so much. How many are you counting in this "one of the greatest shows of all time" claim? Because its not even top 20 all time.

You all need to drop the "its going to be Abe and Glenn" angle, its not happening. It'll be Aaron or Abe because they are afraid of pissing off the fan base. Thats why I'm done, this show used to have balls, it simply doesn't anymore.

Can't agree more with the last two posts. Outcast has a better storyline. Banshee was stellar until the end for the most part. This show feel apart after the gov. Slowed down the pace and moved basically one or two days in the story in an entire season. There are plenty of better options to watch IMO.

Wrong. The Spoiling Dead has already said that the two victims that Negan kills is Glenn and Abraham. It's a pretty respected site for people who want spoilers from the tv show without having to wait for the premiere to start. It's also worth mentioning that Steven Yeun (Glenn) and Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) are the only cast members that hasn't been seen on set since they started filming again.

Are you talking about Spoil The Dead?

I thought it was the Spoiling Dead? Isn't that the only one?

Spoil The Dead is the biggest one that I know of. There is a Spoiling Dead but it doesn't have as much traffic.

At Spoil the Dead the general consensus is it's Glenn and Abe but it's far from confirmed. Also I'm pretty sure Maggie and Michonne haven't been seen since filming the first episode either.

Ahh, didn't know that. Thanks.

It is in my top shows list.
I've seen absolutely nothing that would make me think your ratings of the show are worth more than my ratings.

You thought Sharknado 4 was a masterpiece. That's proof of everyone being entitled to their own opinion.

We have you and BD being 'done' with the show and both on this forum trying to convince everyone else that it's bad.
I don't ever remember stopping watching a show and trying to tell the fans how horrible it is.
I just don't watch it.
So I'll stick by my point.
