The Walking Dead

So Carl hides in the truck with the sole purpose being kill Negan. Has a weapon with Negan exposed merely feet away.......and doesn't shoot.

Later Negan hands him Lucille, turns his back on him, and Carl doesn't swing away.

In Carl's home Negan finds Judith. Carl's infant sister. Negan again Hands Carl Lucille. And Carl does nothing.

So is the show trying to say Carl is just a scared teenager, or is this just crappy ass writing?

I wondered why he didn't now him down with the machine gun too. I know he said "no one else needs to get hurt" but c'mon. He already killed two. What's one more?

Especially when that one more is the one person he set out to kill to begin with. Multiple opportunities to kill Negan.

I'm not saying the show just sucks or anything, but unless there's some plot point next week that explains this, then it's just lazy ass writing. Too much of that with this show.

The show didn't do a very good job at following it's source material when it came to Carl firing at Negan from the truck. In the comics, Carl does fire at Negan once more (after Negan steps out into the open) only to miss Negan (hits one or two more of Negan's guys) because he's a one-eyed, 5 foot tall, 12 year old kid who has no control over the machine gun's power and topples over like a rag doll. I guess you could say he got wet feet in regards to the show, but yeah, they probably could have handled that scene a little better.

not sure I really agree with you regarding the scene where Negan hands Carl Lucille while he's giving his big speech. Quite frankly, if I'm in Carl's shoes, I'm probably feeling aware that Negan is aware himself, that I could easily take a shot at him from behind, basically just baiting me to try. at that point, you have to decide whether or not you truly want to risk trying to kill him, which you might likely fail at anyways, and surely increase your chances of dying, or maintain this trust and bond he seems to have established with you, and likely keep your chances of surviving high. same thing with the scene with Judith, that and the fact that Judith's life is at stake now. Carl would have been stupid (at least more stupid than he already ind of is) to try and take a shot.

also probably important to mention that the scene where Negan hands Lucille to Carl is directly from the comics, and in the comics, Negan is a towering brute and Carl is an actual small child (not a 17 year old past puberty). seeing the scene in the comic, the chances of Carl actually succeeding in killing Negan from behind with Lucille, is well, not very good. again, that's more on the show for not sticking closer to the source material (though you can't really blame them for Carl).

tl;dnr: they could have handled the truck shooting scene better, but they aren't really that much at fault for the other stuff. Carl really only had one shot to kill Negan, and the show lazily had him fail.

IIRC on talking dead, the kid that plays Carl said Carl viewed it as a suicide mission he may not come back from. If he was truly worried about surviving he wouldn't have voluntarily hopped in the truck going to Negans camp with the purpose being to kill Negan. This wasn't a situation that forced Carl into dealing with a choice. Negan didnt come after Carl. Carl came after Negan and had the very opportunity he set out for.

Whatever happened in the comics is the comics. Not the show. Carl is skilled with weapons and popped the two people he shot at. Then just stood there looking at Negan.

I don't think it matters how big and brutish someone may be. You hit them in the back of the head with a 30+ ounce wooden bat lined with barbed wire, they're gonna be stumbling and dazed. Enough to get in another shot if they don't go down the first time. Even if he is a 17 year old.

you serious? i mean, i know my post was long, but i don't think it was that difficult to follow...it's like everything went in one ear and right out the other.

try again.

Well I meant the guy Negan hid behind at first. Just go ahead and take them both out.

If I'm not mistaken Negan was also standing in front of Daryl who was just behind the chain link fence. If Carl doesn't aim perfectly he runs the risk of hitting Daryl as well.

The note said "go now" but was written in cursive like it could have been a woman. On the back was a match and a motorcycle key. I suppose the match is to burn the note to hide the evidence. The only person who would have had the motorcycle key is Dwight unless Jesus just found it lying around.

I think it was from the chick that is one of Negan's wives. ( used to be Dwight's) She was smoking. She could have taken the key from Dwight's room. I thought she was in a stairwell near his room when they talked. Was highlighted in the episode. She had also told Daryl that it could get much worse...

I'm pretty sure another rather famous comic moment is about to happen. It ought to be pretty good on screen.

Confirmed, or at least I'm 99% certain I seen an article somewhere on facebook where there's about to be an all out war. In the previews Negan is shaved and looks to be bloody. Wondering who gets Lucilled, and if somebody does if they will make us wait til the mid season premiere?

It's pretty obvious IMO the two characters that are going to get killed off in the mid season finale.

I could see that too. I'm thinking Rosita because of that bullet, but Olivia did pimp smack Negan. I think either way Spencer is gone and I'm good with that.

I think Negan enjoyed the "pimp smack". He strangely gained respect for her. Might violate his code to off her.

My understanding is that Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl, has enrolled at Auburn, and has fulfilled his original contract with the show. It would seem a good time to move on.

Show is still filmed in GA no? Auburn is within driving distance of the set.

A diminished role at best, I would think. Getting killed off is a possibility in my mind.

Actually it isn't a possibility. Carl still has a ton of story left and is one of the main characters in the show. Killing him off this season would make zero sense.
