The Weekly/BiWeekly School Shooting Thread

No idea whether the charge will stick but it's about time something be done to encourage parents taking responsibility for these sorts of things. If they provide him the gun and are told there's a problem and do nothing that's just terrible.
Surely they can’t get them for Homicide. But I agree that they should be held responsible in some significant capacity.

Seems like the parents and school had a meeting on some statements the shooter made last week and they were also aware of bullying. Sounds like both teachers and parents failed to take care of the issue
The strong have been picking on the weak since the beginning.

Not in Michigan but Im sure some Democrat in that State will annnounce a bill to score Brownie points for him/her self

Society to a large degree.
The lack of mental health facilities is an issue. (go back and see who shut those down)
An underfunded criminal justice/prison system is a big issue. (but nobody likes paying taxes)

The Supreme Court and your side wants to decrease criminal justice funding

Barry shut them down but then again who would pay for a homeless mutt to get treatment

Yea I could buy Involuntary Manslaughter.

What I'm reading about their level of incredible irresponsibility, if its true, is very disturbing. The school alerts the parents that there is a bullying problem, they buy him a gun, the school alerts them that he has been doing searches for ammunition and their reaction is to message him and tell him they aren't mad, just do a better job of not getting caught?????

Jeez, you have to think that the parents of the kids that were killed are absolutely furious.

Add in the same day parents were in school about a drawing and the parents refused to remove the bhild from school. The school gave them 48 hours for counseling. I also feel the school should've sent him home due to the nature of the drawing

We can discuss bullying and I agree it is unacceptable but people "picked on" or bullied when we were growing up but nobody was shooting up the schools.
I’m not making excuses for his crimes. I’m pointing out as with most school shooters the parents, teachers and police all knew about it and did nothing. They all had a meeting that morning with him and still ignored the issues and didn’t even search his bag for a gun!

The teachers and SRO are just as much to blame for dropping the ball here

Yikes.

Buying the kid a gun is not the solution I would have gone with.

lol.....wrong again
The Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 (MHSA) was United States legislation signed by President Jimmy Carter which provided grants to community mental health centers. In 1981 President Ronald Reagan and the U.S. Congress repealed most of the law.[1] The MHSA was considered landmark legislation in mental health care policy.
The law followed the 1978 Report of the President's Commission on Mental Health, which made recommendations for improving mental health care in the United States.
The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981, signed by President Ronald Reagan on August 13, 1981, repealed most of the MHSA.

Carter took appropriate steps to address the problem, Reagan threw it all out...basically shut them down and released the patients.

And was then shot by a man deemed clinically insane.
