The Weekly/BiWeekly School Shooting Thread

Actually, I figured out a better way of putting it. I took shop class in school but I’m not a carpenter. Never have been. However the education of shop class made me more attentive to detail when I am working with wood. If I “need” to build something I absolutely can and have. Cursive is the same way. Just because YOU don’t use it doesn’t mean it’s useless. There may come a time where it would come in handy if you were proficient at it. The uneducated don’t have that option now.
I can say that if I need to build a pinewood derby car, shop class (industrial arts) helped. Cursive is similar.

Ok. I’m 43 so I’m assuming you were thought the same way. Maybe it’s a “you” thing for you both. Nothing wrong with that
Probably a personal preference. If I'm in a meeting taking notes, I'd probably use print. If I'm writing a letter, I'd use cursive, but it would take longer.

Sounds like your argument was ill-conceived.

No they're both stupid. People should be held accountable for their actions alone. Because I leave front door open doesn’t make me accountable for someone breaking the law and entering. Same for everything else. It’s asinine to to think otherwise. If someone sees you take money out of the atm and robs you it’s your fault. See how stupid that is?

Simple practice. You take to print personally so naturally you would be better with print. Growing up I took to cursive and now if I needed it I know it would be faster to write cursive in a letter or note taking.

I see your point but just for chits and giggles, did you know if your door is shut but unlocked and someone comes in uninvited you can prove self defense. However, if your door is open on a nice spring day and someone comes in uninvited, you can’t? Messed up huh? I’m only telling you guys this in case you find yourself in such a situation. Something so simple can mean everything

You gave the example of the parents' car as something they wouldn't be held liable for. Turns out they would be held liable. Pretty asinine, smart guy.

Your donation sites mentioned nothing of definitive blame being placed on someone other than the person committing the crime.

Completely irrelevant, but in elementary school I was regularly reprimanded for writing like a lefty with my right hand.

Pretty vague recommendations. If a gun is being used for home/self defense shouldn’t it be always considered “in use”. I guess they can’t try him as an adult either based on the law.
They have already said they are trying him as an adult. That has nothing to do with the parents' liability and possible criminal charges.

But if you leave your front door open and your dog runs out and attacks a neighbor's child, don't you think you are at least a little liable?

Do not take for granted that the rash of threats happening around the country doesn't go back to mob rule last summer and the democrat party promotion of it. Hoodlums and kids know this stuff appears effective, and the lack of respect for the fellow man has gone out the door. More people are under the delusion and sometimes it appears realistic that they can get away anything.

The left can no longer blame anyone else. They just gin it up and help create it when someone else in power.

Seems like the parents and school had a meeting on some statements the shooter made last week and they were also aware of bullying. Sounds like both teachers and parents failed to take care of the issue

Suspect's parents charged with 4 counts of homicide involuntary manslaughter

Accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley's parents, James and Jennifer Crumbley, have each been charged with four counts of homicide involuntary manslaughter.

The charges were filed in 52nd District Court in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Friday morning.

No idea whether the charge will stick but it's about time something be done to encourage parents taking responsibility for these sorts of things. If they provide him the gun and are told there's a problem and do nothing that's just terrible.

We can discuss bullying and I agree it is unacceptable but people "picked on" or bullied when we were growing up but nobody was shooting up the schools.
