The Weightlifters Thread

I will be moving to Powell, TN within the next month or so, and will be having to part ways with the gym I go to now. Anyone know of any good gyms to go to in that area?

Haven't had the opportunity. The gym I go to has a dumbbell set that goes to 150lbs (and everything above 110lbs is iron, not that rubber crap. AWESOME)

Do the iron weights weigh more than the rubber ones? We have both at my gym and I never use the iron ones, I may be cheating myself.

I meant steel and no, 150lbs is 150lbs. Steel weights are just a lot smaller. All of the gyms I go to use iron grip urethane dumbbells, and I don't know if you've ever seen high weight versions of that... They are enormous.

You're not missing anything. Tried them for about two weeks on my bench, squat, and close grip bench. I would just recommend using on your burnout sets.

Sometimes I forget who I'm talking to on here, and with some of the people I've met IRL at the gym, well...

I find it funny cause of this old guy at the gym. We have 4 diff types of bells and he'll ask anyone to get a different type if you're using the weight he wants in his favorite type.

I like benching with chains and bands. I like the different feel at the point of lockout. Different way to change things up.

Branch's intensity is off the charts, love watching him lift.

Not a big fan of Branch. He works hard, but I'm not sure that he works right. Not right for me anyways. He pushes a ton of weight, but I don't think it's about that. Guys like him and Jay Cutler can get away with bad form because they are so genetically gifted.

Everybody lifts the best way for them. Brsides, if you win the Arnold classic then you're doing something right

Muscletech? Bodybuilding conspiracy theorists claim you need to be one of Weider's guys to win the big contests. It mostly just applies to the Olympia (Kai Greene won the Arnold, and he's not Weider).

If he can get results, that's fine. I just like the guys I can relate to. If I lifted like him, I'd get injured.
