The Weightlifters Thread

Went to the Gold's just outside of Tempe, and it's so ghetto here. Time to find a new gym. Anybody worked out at LA Fitness? May be too high brow for me.

The nice thing about LA Fitness is that the high rates seem to keep the gym from ever getting too crowded, but that's the same downside; it's expensive. I liked working out at 24 because of the nice balance between price and decent quality of the equipment (and it being 24 hours, duh) but the place can turn into an absolute fawking zoo sometimes.

Really though, all I require of a gym is dumbbells that go 125lbs or higher and more than one or two squat racks.

Wow, world's oldest power lifting gym? That's cool. Not really my thing though.

Looks like 24 hr has the closest location to me of the chains. I'm lazy about driving around, so I'll go there first.

Yeah, I wouldn't make it my spot. But you can go and pay $2 to workout there. I think it'd be a cool place to check out once

The six point font is necessary to get all that history in! BTW, I wonder how long their protein powder has been sitting around that they're selling?

Slowly getting back into it...

I think I lost it for a few months. I would take some time off, hit the gym a couple days in a row, not go a couple days.

Finally found my motivation again, been lifting 45-60min an hour every day for the last five days. I lost a lot of strength in the process. Not too far removed that it's going to take me forever to get back in the swing of things, though.

Continued the slow repping on friggin everything today for chest+tris

DB bench press: 1 set 60lbs 15x for warm-up, 4 sets 85lbs x 8x

My slow reps are a 2-count on both extension and flexion, with a 1-count rest on either end. I try and make a count roughly equivalent to a second.

Good job of getting back into it!

No kidding. Everybody knows Billy don't do legs.

My step-son and his wife came down yesterday. He enlists a week from tomorrow. So I had all kinds of healthy food (cause he is really focused on being the right weight and he lost over 80lbs to be able to enlist.) And we played games in the Wii that made you move around. Everything was awesome.

And then, he and I had this little competitive thing going at one point....each of us were doing push-ups for every point scored. So once I lost the round, and had to hold plank on my elbows, and then he hollars "end it with a push up". So since my core is relative strong, and plank for 60 seconds is nothing to me, I thought CAKE. Well, something bad happened when I lifted off my right arm. My right shoulder TOTALLY jacked up! OMG! Freakin' hurt so bad! I literally had to make my husband take my shirt off me cause I couldn't lift my right arm!

That was last night. How long do you reckon I have to wait to know if there is anything a doc needs to see, or if it just heals on it's own?
