The Weightlifters Thread

Back and bi's completed. Leg day tomorrow....

Crap workout. People that do those type workouts never maximize smaller muscle groups due to pre fatiguing that occurs from exhausting larger muscle groups. It shortchanges the time and effort put into these smaller groups and more often than not causes the person training to plateau and have no notable gains.

On the way to Leg Day. I'm going to do a different routine today. I'll be using a kettle ball routine, with a lot of squat and holds. Guy at the gym does it, encouraged me to try it, he's ripped, so I figure I'd give it a shot.

Who knows, they may not really care.

Everyone is different. What might not work for you might actually work for him. I isolate my muscle groups to one body part a day, only because I have the time to do so and I'm single, but some people have a life and group what is best for them. As long as he is getting the results he wants...I see nothing wrong with it. Also some people like mixing things up and playing with new stuff just to see if it might work. That's why they call it weight training.

Kettle balls are all the rage. I've worked out with them some. Meh

Dude probably got ripped by his diet/cardio. Not by kettle bells.

Something different. Change of pace.

I worked with a kettle bell the other day on a cardio circuit routine I do every 5th day. Not a bad workout. From everything I've read and heard they serve as a really good change of pace when experiencing pain in your joints from heavy lifting.

I have worked with kettle bells a lot. Based on my experience it is a great once a week activity if you care about lookin in a mirror. If you care more about fitness you can work every muscle group in the body while getting an aerobic workout. You will not get ripped from working out with them, but they are a great workout when properly done. They are also great for things like balance, flexibility, and grip strength

I'm still hurtin from squats, lunges and deads on Tuesday. I missed back day this week

I'm just gonna hit the hangboard hard at home today, I guess.

You learn something new everyday. I didn't know following traditional push/pull philosophies would result in a crap workout. I guess my personal gains and decades of results were wrong. Who knew????

Well considering I'm not gonna be competing any time soon, I'm alright with my crap workout. :)

I do this to stay in shape. I'm not really worried about looking like Arnold.

As for me, I find myself in the minority at the gym since I'm definitely on the endomorph end of the scale. When I'm really on my p's and q's about a clean diet, I can get to a lean 230lbs (5'10.5") without breaking a sweat in around six months.

I like beer and tasty food too much. :)

A lean 230 not really unrealistic. I recall I was at 6 ft 230 at one time when I worked out 4 days a week for years, so I can see it.

I'm in a pretty good routine right now surprisingly. Diet is good, workout is good, no injuries. Weighed in at 181 this morning. I'm guessing my body fat is @ 10-11%, I'll check on Thur.
