The Weightlifters Thread

You could see great results with less frequency, but if you are enjoying it keep it up.

I prefer being in the gym 3-4 days a week.

My problem is I have an addictive personality, so when I do leg day (which I hate) and have my off day, I find myself really itching to do upper body. Thanks for the advice, I'm sure I'll probably cut back a little once I've been doing it a few months.

A while back I began doing legs 3x/week and now it's just stuck with me

I definitely love the progress I've made so far and can't wait to see even more and better results

I don't know about that, I saw my best progress when I started splitting my days up and going 5-7 days a week.

Depending on my goals I have certain splits set up.

Right now as I build raw bench power. I'm doing as follows:

Sunday: Back

Monday: Legs(Quad dominant)

Tuesday's: Chest and Tris

Wednesday: Legs(Hamstring dominant)

Thursday: Chest and Shoulders

Friday: Free day(cardio, abs, or rest)

Saturday: Biceps

Now in January when I cut this weight off(up 15lbs from my Summer weight) I'll switch it up again.

I did it last year and progress went through the roof. I had to back off of it but works big time.

For about the last 7 months or so I've been doing calves 5 times per week even on upper days.

And I super set calfs with every leg exercise I do including squats

Paying off

I work calves about once a week bro. I've got 18 inch calves naturally(thanks to the man above lol). I just work em to keep them together bro. But I see you've gone leg crazy. 😂😂😂😁😁💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

Nah, it never even crossed my mind.
I do this to remain "an athlete" and challenge myself.

Also, I want to set an example for kids I coach.

Can't be out of shape preaching to youngsters about doing and being your best.
Children do as you do not as you say

Do you need your pro card to compete? Or is that amateur status?

You start amateur and earn your pro cards.

And I understand you with these young boys. Had to race this 19 year old WR I work with the other week. I got him but I'm only running 40 yards these days. 😂😂😂😂😂

Has anybody here ever done any Olympic lifting? I've thought about trying it out and working some into one of my next lifting cycles.

From about 18 months ago. I was 186lbs but calves were still huge for my size. 18's lol All the work of the man above. Lol

I hate you all.

- signed guy cursed with chicken legs below the knees even though I do calf raises to end every workout

Change things up, Do them to start your work out.

Also, if your gonna do some seated heavy dumbbell presses. Just sit them on ur knees and do raises. Explode and squeeze at the top , with slow negatives

Do sets of 21's, 7 toes in, 7 toes out, and 7 toes straight. Do these with all calf raises, hack squats, and smith machine squats. See what happens. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

No, I'm well past that (32 years old). I just like being in shape and want to be athletic, not just strong.

Man I won't lie I just do the least stressful athletic lifts I can find. 😂😂😂😂😂 I think making sure your flexibility is good will keep you alright if your lifting good. And not getting too heavy for your frame. That's another thing I see people do. They lose a lot by getting too big.

Haha probably a lot of wisdom in that.
