The Winner Of Tennessee at Georgia Will be in the CFP

1 loss defending National Champion...

I think depending on that game in Athens.
UT wins 55-54 or a close game like that. You'd have to take a hard look.
IF Tennessee stays healthy, and takes care of business up until then, I cannot see Georgia scoring anywhere near 50 points on the Vols. Bama scored 49 against Tennessee with the reigning Heisman trophy winner having the game of his life. Stetson Bennett is a game manager. He cannot put the team on his back as Bryce Young did. We have the sixth ranked rush defense in the nation. Georgia will be unable to keep up with Hendo Heisman trying to run the ball. Needless to say, that's a big if.

So many variables remain. Too many to realistically predict anything.

Does Stroud get hurt between now and their game against Michigan? Does Hooker get injured before Georgia? Does either team go undefeated? Or somehow get into their conference championship games despite 1 loss? Or if a loss keeps them out of the B10/SEC CG, do they have the intangibles in their other games to overcome that? Whose stats end up better? Whose key plays look more amazing? Are the Mid-western voters divided between Stroud and, say, the Michigan QB? What about the Southern voters being divided between Hooker and Young? And does Tennessee remain the darling of the country? Even more so? Or do they fall off the national consciousness for some reason?

I don't think anyone short of God could predict this one, not this far in advance.

All we know for certain right now is, Hendon--and our entire team, heck our entire program--are in a very good place. We seem favored by most.

That'll do for now.

Go Vols!
It would be classic Ohio State (and classic Iowa) if Stroud threw about 3 pick sixes Saturday and Iowa kicked a last second field goal to win 24-21. Then OSU wins every other game by 30.

If that were to happen, brother, the trophy would be Hendon's by a wide margin. He would just need to hold on from that point, either beat UGa or lose in a nail-biter, then win out--and stay healthy--and I think the award would be his.

But it would take that kind of a big stumble by Stroud to make it that sure of a thing. Otherwise, this is probably going down to the wire.

I DO NOT trust the media.

I think you overlook the fact that UT is still not viewed the way UGA and Bama are or that UT fans are disliked by a lot of the media. If UT is that one loss loser... I fully expect the voters to put a PAC12, ACC, Big12, or even a one loss Big10 team in instead.

Totally agree

Everyone has a belly button and an opinion so....Tennessee controls it's own destiny...win out and win the NCAA Championship for 2022 which will go down in history as the greatest comeback in college football. It will also serve notice to NCAA that we are back. I would love to attend a UT vs whoever in Atlanta and NOLA and other drive-able/indoors/ or near beach and warmer weather bowls/games from now til the Natty game. Georgia is going to bring the house, influence the referees, and piss on themselves to beat us so...we just need to put that chip on our shoulders, play our best game, and cross our fingers. We are gradually losing talent and did not have UGA and Bama's depth to begin with. Pray for the injured and for the coaching staff to adjust and make smart decisions. GBO! VFL!

Agree this could happen.

The Winner of the Tennessee-Georgia game will be in the SECCG and the loser has a good chance of making it to the Playoffs. I don't think the Voters will allow the SEC to have 3 out of 4 teams in the Playoffs however.

It would be hard to keep them out, but think about it.

Say they lose to us in the regular season and therefore don't go to Atlanta. How do you put them in over us and Alabama? Only way I see that going their way is we beat Alabama again the SECCG, which seems unlikely. Possible, but unlikely.

Now say they beat us but lose to Alabama in the SECCG. One-loss Alabama is in and the committee has a tough decision to make between one-loss UGA and one-loss Tennessee. UGA would have won the head-to-had matchup with Tennessee in this scenario - but we won head-to-head with Alabama. It should come down to strength of schedule, and we have a strong advantage there. We would have 5 wins against top-25 opponents and they would only have 2 (MSU and UK will no longer be ranked when they play UGA).

If Vols, Dogs, and Tide ended with 1 loss, I think UT would be the odd man out.

That is a scenario where UT loses to UGA, then Bama beats number 1 UGA in SECCG. Conference champion gets in with 1 loss. UGA would be number 1 when they get their loss. Probably not falling past 4th.

I really don't think we have any business being in this discussion. Our pre season over under was 7.5. The majority of sensible fans were between 8-9 wins. Whatever happens at this point we are playing with house money. To make it to the playoffs though, we most likely need to win in both Athens and Atlanta. They won't give it to us, we have to take it.

Really we need for LSU to beat Ole Miss this weekend and then for LSU or Ole Miss to beat Bama. We need Bama to have two losses so they will be eliminated. If they only have one loss they will be in the playoffs.

The CFP ranking will be released on Tuesday of Georgia week which will only increase the significance of this game. The game atmosphere will even eclipse our game with Bama.

All eyes will be on Athen and the outcome.

If both teams are undefeated it will be a #1v#2 matchup. It'd be too good for the CFP committee to pass it up.
