The Winner Of Tennessee at Georgia Will be in the CFP

I think the world wants UT in the championship game. The fatigue from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State is real. Would add Oklahoma to the list but they look like us in the dark days of the Pruitt era.

I think a 1 loss Tennessee team still makes it. They will have the best resume by leaps and bounds by any 1 loss team, as long as its to Georgia and its a close game.
Not mattering right now. Probably won't matter then. We've got to beat GA. If we can't, does it matter anyway in the end?

Pruitt era? More like every year from 2010-2020 except for 2016.

Legal Disclaimer: I understand we first must beat UT Martin and then there is a big game against Kentucky. And I understand after the Georgia game we still have to take care of business against South Carolina.

The committee showed us last year that an undefeated, number one ranked team is allowed to lose their conference championship game and will still get in.

Not that a loss here eliminates us from playoff contention, but a win all but assures that we would be in the playoff.

I think in order for us to make it in, we will need some help. Clemson is in because they will be undefeated and win the ACC. That’s one. Now if we win the SEC obviously we are in. But let’s assume we lose and only have 1 loss.

If UCLA goes undefeated and wins the PAC 12, then they are in. That’s 2. If TCU wins out that’s 3 and we know either UM or OSU gets in. That’s the easy scenarios. However, it could be absolute chaos. Let’s examine.

Say UGA goes undefeated and loses to Bama in the SEC. That would give both UGA and TN 1 loss. Say TCU loses a game but wins the B12? They would have 1 loss.

Now the B10. What happens if both UM and OSU end up with one loss?

The winner of the game will have to face the SEC west champ…the winner of THAT gsame will be in the playoffs.

This sounds weird but I think UT has a better shot at making the playoffs than Georgia. I don't think Georgia gets in with one loss.
I’d say your right since GA has literally played nobody worth mentioning in months. Comparing UT and GA resumes is a joke and the only reason the pups are ranked ahead of the Vols is because they started the year there.

Look, I get the excitement and drama in playing Georgia in 3 weeks, but at this time we need to handle business with UT Martin (get the backups some much needed reps and starters some rest) and move onto Kentucky. The Wildcats are coming into Neyland with a score to settle and TN is not good enough to overlook anyone. Focus on the task at hand, then move on to the next task. Georgia is irrelevant till the coinflip in Sanford.
This is a message board and if any of us were putting the pads on Saturday or in the film room preparing for the game I may agree with you but this is what fans do…you can focus on UT Martin for us and we will continue to look ahead and play what ifs

This is what scares me. Not UT Martin exactly, but us riding the wave thinking we are automatically 11-1 or 12-0. Some on volnation would melt down if we god forbid get beat by KY, or SC
I don’t give a sh*t if we are 1-11, as long as we beat SC. For context, how everyone views Florida here, that’s how I view SC. It’s personal. I have some family there that I can not stand, haven’t spoke to them in 16-17 years. They are die hard SC fans, so I know(without speaking to them) that when TN plays them they are in the stands or glued to the TV.

Ok, I'll go back to my film study, thankyou for clarifying the rules here and keeping me on the right track.

I think if Georgias one loss is to us or Alabama they're in. If it's someone else that beats them, I think there's an argument that they get left out.

To me, the interesting scenario would be if:

we lose to Georgia....
Alabama beats Ole Miss....
Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship...

You would then have 4 1 loss SEC teams.
What 1 loss SEC team do you put in the playoffs?

for Vols to be ensured a spot beat uga make it to sec and win.
but all could align for close loss at uga..dont make sec and still get in playoffs like bama has

It's the coaches and players jobs to worry about UT Martin and Kentucky and South Carolina and whatever the hell. My only worry is finding the cheapest VRBO in Burbank for when the Vols are in the National Championship game.

That's the worse possible for UT and the SEC.
You have to figure that OSU/Michigan and Clemson will be undefeated; and UCLA (if they take care of Oregon) along with TCU as well.
That gives the committee solid ground to only include one SEC team - the winner of the SECCG (Bama in your scenario).

All of that said, if Oregon beats UCLA that possibly leaves the Pac-12 champion out and TCU might be out due to the lack of strength in the Big 12.
That would leave SECCG, B1G, Clemson, and POSSIBLY one at large SEC team...if Bama wins as your scenario states, that gives UT a solid argument for being included.

Obviously my choice scenario is WIN THEM ALL and LEAVE NO DOUBT !!!
