The Winner Of Tennessee at Georgia Will be in the CFP

If Vols, Dogs, and Tide ended with 1 loss, I think UT would be the odd man out.

That is a scenario where UT loses to UGA, then Bama beats number 1 UGA in SECCG. Conference champion gets in with 1 loss. UGA would be number 1 when they get their loss. Probably not falling past 4th.

idk about that. If Bama beats them by 20 or more, I could see the committee putting us in over UGA. Get that ratings draw of a possible UT/Bama rematch in the playoffs. I would be curious if that did happen would they seed it in a way that the only possible rematch would be in the title game, or seed to where we play them first.

Really we need for LSU to beat Ole Miss this weekend and then for LSU or Ole Miss to beat Bama. We need Bama to have two losses so they will be eliminated. If they only have one loss they will be in the playoffs.

Why would we want Ol Miss to lose to LSU?

Edit: excuse the use of we in my question. I've been scolded.

Oh definitely especially now. That’s why it scares me even more
It’s definitely the BVS. Mine still creeps in from time to time but I just don’t see this team having a game they’re not ready to play. Getting beat straight up is one thing, but Heupel does a good job prepraeing the team for every game. They won’t take KY lightly.

Look, I get the excitement and drama in playing Georgia in 3 weeks, but at this time we need to handle business with UT Martin (get the backups some much needed reps and starters some rest) and move onto Kentucky. The Wildcats are coming into Neyland with a score to settle and TN is not good enough to overlook anyone. Focus on the task at hand, then move on to the next task. Georgia is irrelevant till the coinflip in Sanford.

Legal Disclaimer: I understand we first must beat UT Martin and then there is a big game against Kentucky. And I understand after the Georgia game we still have to take care of business against South Carolina.

The committee showed us last year that an undefeated, number one ranked team is allowed to lose their conference championship game and will still get in.

Not that a loss here eliminates us from playoff contention, but a win all but assures that we would be in the playoff.
I disagree with this premise. It appears imo the media and coaches are voting strategically this year to ensure only one SEC team, the winner of the SECCG gets into the playoffs. Perhaps even 2 Big10 teams will go if the OSU Michigan game is close. I hate it as neither of them have played many ranked teams whereas UT has 4 under their belt at this point.

Yea, if they were to lose in a blowout I could see that. We also probably would not need to lose to UGA in blowout fashion.

I think UGA and UT make the playoffs

I don't unless Alabama isn't in the picture.

I feel like to be safe, Tennessee needs to beat Georgia. Georgia may get in at 11-1 if Tennessee beats them, I don't think Tennessee gets in at 11-1 if they lose to Georgia.

Tennessee, Georgia, Bammer, Ole Miss, two other dbag teams from worthless conferences. Thats my unprofessional and unscientific opinion.

What if Tennessee beats Georgia, loses to Alabama in the SEC title game and has to play them a third time in the CFP?

Ole Miss is still unbeaten so they need a loss. If they beat LSU and Bama and get to the SEC Championship undefeated then not good for the Vols. Only two SEC teams will make the playoffs otherwise the rest of the country will complain like crazy.

3 teams can get in.

If UGA beats Tenn, but losses to Bama, I can see all 3 teams get in.

UGA (1st ranked, now becomes 4th after loss to Bama), Bama (winner of SECG game gets in), and Tenn (1 loss team who beat Bama gets in) = all 3 gets in.

Unless tOSU/MI and Clemson lose their championship games or finish with 2 losses I really doubt the committee will put 3 SEC teams in the playoffs.

After watching the game for the 15th time, the UT defense actually played very well, even giving up 42 points. They won the LOS all day and squashed the run for the most part. They got a good rush on Bryce forcing the guy to throw quick accurate passes. Amazingly he did just that time and time again but not the last 2 plays. A lesser QB back there and UT wins by 4 TD's. The running back produced yardage on sheer quickness and speed not blocking, we won't face another duo like that the rest of the season. The DB's are slow and raw but I think the pass rush will make them look much better moving forward. Its the part we were missing last season.

Context is important. Last year every conference except the B1G and SEC had a 2 or more loss champion. The only competition UGA had was a 1 loss ND that lost it’s only ranked matchup and didn’t have a conference championship game. I honestly think Oklahoma State would’ve gotten in over UGA had they beaten Baylor.
