The WRs / Drops

Yep, he should not hit them in the hands. Joe had one bad throw tonight. The rest were drops.
He didn't hit them in the hands. They went back or up to try and catch balls that were high and/or behind them, and got their hands on the ball. I'd like to have seen our receivers come up with a few more of the ones they got their hands on. But Joe wasn't putting the ball where he was supposed to either. Plenty of blame to go around. Hopefully they were just out of sync.

Looks like they need more time with Joe than the machines chemistry is off. Way off.
Agree. They dropped too many that hit them in the numbers. Not Joe’s fault. However, they aren’t MLB catchers and there is no reason Joe has to throw a 100 mph fastball every pass. A little touch helps the receiver immensely.

Yeah, it feels like it might help some people if they went back and watched Hooker's passes last year, just to see what accurate throws did to help receivers make catches and ring up yards after the catch. Hooker didn't put a lot of balls behind guys running routes. Had a habit of hitting or leading, but didn't put many behind guys. Making it difficult on the receiver time after time is going to lead to higher rates of failure and put stress on the receivers to constantly be making difficult catches. It's easy to say "they have to catch it," but it's easier still to make the damn passes more catchable and not ask your receivers to be 100% perfect on every catch.

Any D1 receiver should make the catch from a well thrown ball.
Better D1 receivers make catches from poorly thrown balls they can get their hands on.

Milton was definitely off, but there were some balls that should have been caught by a “SEC wide receiver” that were not……….
We don't seem to have SEC wide receivers.

I wasn't happy with the number of drops. They made those catches last week. But no one did anyone any favors in the pass game early on. Bru did his best to drag them out of it. He's a dog.

Leading up to the season, our fans were calling for Bru, White and Thornton to be one of the best trios in the country. Unstoppable. Now we have no SEC WRs??
Bru continues to deliver whenever he is called on. Solid and dependable. Squirrel has yet to get a target on a really deep ball. Thornton however has disappointed so far. I don’t expect that to continue.

I think I can handle Thornton since he is new and still building in game chemistry.

Ramel Keyton is just not a good-hands receiver. He won't rip the ball out of the air or make a catch in stride...he needs the ball placed in between numbers. It is sad that he is a starter and no one can make a leap in front of him

We don’t have an SEC caliber qb, that is the issue. Let’s face it Milton is a Conference USA type qb and would probably do ok there.

Thornton definitely dropped 2 tonight that hit his hands, no doubt. One on a broken play comeback along the home sideline that should have netted maybe 25 yards.
I could have caught that one and I’m 68 years old.

What is with the targets to white and Thornton? Almost none. ? Or am I missing it

Thornton had at least 2 targets in the first half. He dropped both of them. This coming off game 1 that he also had 2 drops. Hyatt can tell you first hand what happens to your place in the pecking order if you start dropping the ball consistently. That's why he hit the jugs machine hard in the summer prior to his senior year.

Thornton has been a huge disappointment. He's dropped a minimum of 4 passes in 2 games. And I haven't seen him get the sort separation he should get with his skillset.
He failed to emerge as a top target for Oregon. Guessing we are seeing the reason.
