In these times, maybe this isn’t WTF… Three years ago, the Republican majority in the Georgia legislature redrew Congressional districts to eliminate one Democratically held seat. The matter went to the courts, and the court ordered the State legislature to restore minority representation in the Georgia districts map. The legislature has redrawn the districts to turn a purple district red along the northern arch of the Atlanta metro area. Big middle finger to the court just before elections…

I learned about this in the 8th grade and again in the 10th grade. You probably did too, but I know they probably had the linebackers coach teaching government, and there were a lot of pretty girls in there, so you probably just missed it. I least I hope they had a coach teaching government. That's how school should be.

I don’t recall a state legislature refusing to abide a court order since desegregation. If your public school football coach taught that your state legislature could and should ignore court orders, then your experience was unique.
