The WTF story of the Day

They stole her driveway??? Is this real???

That is quite crazy...I saw the still on the video and figured some Florida Men took a bobcat and hauled off her gravel driveway or something, but it was concrete...and from the looks of it they did a pretty decent job of cleaning up after the removal too. The main word that jumps to mind is: Why?

Quick guess without diving into the story would be an unpaid bill for the driveway if it was new.

True, I could see that. The video didn't seem to allude to any sort of an agreement between the contractor and homeowner, but I wouldn't put it past the news leaving out that tidbit to gin up some views/outrage (or at least get some mileage off a follow-up).

I'll almost guarantee a contractor screwed up and either gave his crew the wrong address or the crew misread the address.

In the video, the original driveway looked to be all cracked up and in general chitty shape. So, I could see the crew assuming they were at the correct address.

On the bright side, the chitty driveway was demo'd for free.

Likely the case. But my assumption was more fun.

I looked at that video several times because the guys at work had that same theory. But if you go back and listen to the news story, there were workers that came to the home measuring BEFORE the entire text message exchange. The contractor had even called the woman and did say that it was a big mistake and they had the wrong address. OK... cool. But then the news story says that a week later, the Bobcats were caught on the Ring camera and "someone" came and dug up the driveway. I don't think the contractor that submitted the text messages was in on it (else if they were invovled, the police could have easily fingered them). Right now, however, the police are still investigating.

Just a weird series of events.

Also, let's assume that the address given was wrong. That would mean that someone else in that neighborhood with a driveway nearby was actually the one needing the work. Wouldn't they have been trying to contact the contractors about work needing to get done and what is the hold up? I'm sure the contractors told them we will be there on Monday, and when Monday came and went, but no contractors showed up, wouldn't that have been a red flag?

Also, in the news story, the screenshots of the text messages would lead the viewer to beliee that the address shown in the screenshot was the correct address. If it were not the correct address, then the reporters should have made a note of that.

But, are they reporters? Or, just people who feel entitled to be reporters because they attended journalism classes? Some of the younger generation aren’t about doing the job well as much as they are about making whatever effort they feel like making and demanding that they’re entitled to the professional title to which they lay claim.

So she got it stuck...and they rushed her to the hospital...implying she got the "ride of her life" on the back end of a jacked-up F-250 or something? The Florida is strong with that one.
Difficult to say. So many options and she chose a trailer hitch. Enough of a looker to maybe be a school teacher trying to play it safe and leave the 13yo boys alone. And why is it always good looking women?! On the bright side she did get stuck verses popping right back off.
