The Xavier Postgame Report

I have been a Cuonzo fan and apologist since day 1, but I am starting to waver.

I like him and hope he does well, but it seems he needs to get out of his own way.

I like Cuonzo as a person, too.
But I also liked Dooley as a person.
We know how that turned out.

Barton 30 minutes 10pts 4ast 1to 2stl 50%3pt

Just what the doctor ordered.

I don't think the scheduling was a big deal, but I will say if we had played a game Barton would've been the starter for this one. If Barton starts I don't think we get out to such a slow start and ultimately we win the game.

Barton looked perfectly healthy out there. Thought he moved very well. He needs to start and get a lot of PT.

Maymon on the other hand.... Did the TV broadcast not show him hobbling around and working his knee out? He looked handicapped. I don't see him lasting a full season unless his minutes are very limited going forward. Which is unfortunate because Stokes doesn't look improved from last year. Where we thought our post play would be a huge advantage might end up being this teams Achilles heel.

There is no way around this being a bad loss. I blame our bigs for this one. 11 points and and 14 rebounds between both these guys is atrocious, and we wont get anywhere unless they pick it up (I do believe they will). I'm am excited though that there is a chance we play XAVIER AGAIN in the upcoming tournament. It will be a good indicator on our progress. After watching almost every single Xavier game for the past 4 years I can say this is definitely not one of their really good teams.

Xavier was dreadful. As poorly as we played we were still in it at the end. That is a reflection of them as much as it is us.

You were there weren't you? I don't recall the tv broadcast showing that. That's interesting. He is not 100% and obviously has to work himself into game shape. He's still knocking off the rust. He had 5 of our 11 turnovers. I can't knock his effort though. If Stokes gave half the effort that Maymon did he'd be twice the player.

We kept trying to back down the brick wall that was the Great Slow White Dope and never could. Martin never tried to face him up which makes me think he doesn't know a damn thing about offense and he doesn't have an asst coach that knows a damn thing about offense. It's frustrating as hell to watch the talent we have with this team continue to fall flat on its face in Nov and Dec.
